I still listen to "timing" by Black Biscuits even now

You might remember things as better than they were but it was good

And speaking of which the lyrics (??) remain in your mind right

That was the golden age of Komuro's progression

12: 2018/08/31(金)19:55:27 ID:zQV
The originality and pride was better than it is now

I'm thankful that there were a lot of songs that are easy to sing at karaoke

This
There are a lot of easy to sing songs

14: 2018/08/31(金)19:56:54 ID:NZg
That's because the songs from this era were on point
There is no more power in songs
Current songs are all fluff and leave no impression

16: 2018/08/31(金)19:58:40 ID:tKK
There are a lot of songs that older people, middle aged, adults, and even young people know and party it up at karaoke

17: 2018/08/31(金)19:59:18 ID:7fV
That because they tried to combine popular western music with Japanese society
Current rock bands are too targeted towards weirdos. Gesu no Kiwame and the like no nothing about appealing to large audiences

19: 2018/08/31(金)20:00:49 ID:tKK
Komoto Hiroto is a weirdo himself but his songs appeal to the public

Rather that is actually more popular now it makes me want to vomit

"Normal is bad" is normal nowadays

24: 2018/08/31(金)20:02:59 ID:zQV
Now the level of producer's influence is too strong

35: 2018/08/31(金)20:11:22 ID:e1a
Current J-pop is too much like "that"

40: 2018/08/31(金)20:14:36 ID:xIo
That's because television had a strong influence
If a song was used in a drama it would sell like hotcakes

53: 2018/08/31(金)20:27:25 ID:06a
The era when Utada Hikaru and Sheena Ringo came out was amazing
Marunouchi Sadistici is amazing

57: 2018/08/31(金)20:29:37 ID:rh4
This is the generation where amateurs and Vocaloids are praised

58: 2018/08/31(金)20:30:45 ID:tKK
>>57
Vocaloids are treated like it's old now

65: 2018/08/31(金)20:34:26 ID:Nm8
In the 90s the power of dramas was huge, particular the Getsu9 [dramas that aired at 9pm on Mondays]
The themes songs are full of famous songs

68: 2018/08/31(金)20:35:58 ID:qYB
>>65
Saboten no Hana
SAY YES
Love Story ha Totsuzen Ni

These were amazing

>>68
Other ones are

Hoka ni mo
LA・LA・LA LOVE SONG
Na mo naki Uta
You’re the Only
Kimi ga iru Dake de

Really amazing

Kids nowadays are blessed though
They don't appear on the golden tv programs but there has been an increase in bands
The first half of the 2010's was the worst, I don't remember the bands that were active in that time

TV has lost its power and most acts now target a certain demographic rather than trying to reach the whole because they know that the whole is segmented now. That's mainly why TV isn't as powerful anymore as well.

The quality of 90's Japanese music, regardless of genre, was on a different level compared to now in my opinion.

Back then I found myself enjoying at least 80% of Japan's music content. I definitely can't say that about his current decade.

How do you think things are different now compared to then?

The influence of tv is obviously not as strong as it was (just take a look at the examples they mentioned) but it's still powerful imo. Two of the biggest recent hits had tv drama tie ins (Koi and Lemon). And I feel like the only Beverly songs Japanese people know are the two theme songs she did.
