Kyulkyung of PRISTIN (???) has released teaser pictures for her solo debut in China with “Whyâ€.

 

 

 

The picture teasers and video clip aren’t the news as much as the implications the solo debut in China might have for PRISTIN. For such a hyped girl group out of the gate, Pledis Entertainment has now gone a whole year without a group comeback, instead debuting a unit in Pristin V that didn’t do any better than the main group. Now Kyulkyung is off to China for who knows how long and Kyla is still MIA somewhere.

 

Of course, it’s not a big deal if this really is just a temporary foray for Kyulkyung and the focus for her and the company is still on PRISTIN at large. Maybe we laugh it off as pointless worry in a year, but given the history of idols who seek relevance in China and the history of Pledis managing the careers of girl groups it’s hard to have confidence in their plan unless they do something like announce a PRISTIN comeback in the near future.

Is she an important member for Pristin?

 

Kyulkyung is doing so very well in China and looks busy with work there. Certainly getting loads of love calls, She is being a guest and MC for a bunch of shows.  I've seeing her name in rumours of casting for dramas. If she goes into acting in China she will not be able to work with Pristin at the same time as filming a drama.

But I am afraid for the future of the other girls. Kayla especially.

 

I mean, I know that they have to keep Kyulkyung in the spotlight to remind people that Pristin still exists. But I don't want to see the other girls drift farther and farther away from the spotlight while her star keeps rising and suddenly we never see the other girls doing anything again.

 

Pledis should have learned their lesson from shelving After School so long ago.

 

And instead they almost lost Nu'est too. We all know that Pledis rediscovered that particular abandoned gold mine after PD101 season 2.

 

But I am afraid that the company is getting fat and lazy again. Going cheap promoting Pristin with only its most famous member is going to hurt the rest of the group.

Idk why people are freaking out. It's just solo activities. There are a lot of other girl groups and their members do solo activities also. Plus, pledis is known for not getting opportunities like this for their artists, it's their artists themselves who makes these opportunities. So, I think it would be best if she took up all the offers she gets.

Are we really forgetting that Lizzy had more solo activities (variety shows appearances, dramas, etc) than Nana. OC had their fair share of solo activities, though I think raina got the short end of the stick. Just because Nana seems to be more successful now, doesn't mean we should ignore the fact that Lizzy was well promoted in the beginning.

Yeah Siyeon is such a waste. I would be really glad if she stays as an actress than being an Idol. She already stablished her name as an actress i dont really get why she need to push herself to be an idol. My poor Siyeon she deserved much better!

Didn't know it was a Chinese release. Don't know about the future in PRISTIN, but I don't want to see her departure.
