UPDATE 26/5 - Iriyama Anna, Kawaei Rina and one staff member confirmed to be victims. All three have successfully gone through surgery and are currently recovering, all are in good condition.

"perilous

Reported injury

Kawaei Rina: Broken right thumb (Some reports only state that the right hand and not right thumb)

Iriyama Anna: Broken right pinkie (Some reports only state that the right hand and not right pinkie) and head injury (Seems like her injury is the more serious one)

Male Staff: Cut to the left hand

The weapon was a 50cm long Nokogiri."

The attacker has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

It seems all 48 members have been indefinitely banned from posting on social networks. There is a team 4 performance tonight at AKB's theater but it isn't known if that will still go on or not.

-------

A handshake event in Iwate in which fans can meet their favourite members of AKB48 was cancelled this afternoon after someone supposedly attacked some members with a sharp object.

Not much is known about the event so far but a staff member has reportedly been stabbed in the hand and at least two members are injured. Will update.

srsly this security -.- how did a knife/sharp object/whatever even manage to get that close to a member to the point of actually hurting her.

That's horrible. Hopefully the injuries aren't too severe and the security is tightened a LOT in the future.

Also inb4 "they had it coming"

I can’t believe some of the shit I’m reading online now about the incident. There’s so many people who are blaming everything but the dude.

It’s NOT the staff/management fault for the knife incident. Metal detector? Have you seen an AKB48 handshake event? Will our phones make thru the detectors? What about our bags? Just like the stabbing incident in Taiwan(?) is it the fault of the government for not doing metal detectors at train stations? Don’t tell me that’s not comparable because the amount of people at an AKB handshake amounts to a train station amount of people at any one time or even more.

Staff member/s is/are hurt. Is that not enough protection for our girls? Yes that this freak incident is crazy but innocent staff is hurt too. They tried to protect the girls. The dude has to whip out the knife last minute because fuck, that lane is flooded w people. Anything suspicious will be spoken out by fans or staff anyway. There’s checks along the way and to pull shit off, he has to hide it somewhere in his bag till the very last minute.

Are you guys even fucking there at the handshake? Do you know what a handshake usually is like? Do you actually know what happen when the staff tried their best to help the girls and the fans? Did you see them in blood? Let me tell you, I DID.

I SAW MY GIRLS RUNNING OUT IN BLOOD. I SAW KAWAEI COLLAPSE IN FRONT OF ME. I SAW GIRLS WITH BLOOD ON THEM IN FRONT OF ME. I SAW THEM CRYING, HEARD THEM SCREAMING WITH NO ONE IN BETWEEN ME AND THEM EXCEPT FCKING BARRICADES.

And I also saw how fast the staff reacted to help the girls out and away. I saw how the members ran out with Miichan helping the girls in her lane to get to backstage. I saw how she had to go from one girl to the other to make sure all is fine and to console them while they cry and freak out. I saw how the teru teru bozu girls on the other side not know what happened and were happily skipping back before Ami and Fujita face changes to horror when they see their friends screaming. I saw how the staff quickly ushered them into the backstage just so they won’t see that blood stains on the floor where the girls collapsed earlier. I saw how they tried not to tell the girls yet of what happened since they didn’t know but the look of horror on Hirari face made me tell it to her and she quickly ran, steering Yukarun away from the lanes.

Management blaming has to fucking stop. Please concentrate on praying for the injured girls. Please concentrate on sending good thoughts to the members. Please concentrate in hoping that all affected members, physically or mentally, be fine. They still have handshakes. They still have concerts. They need all your prayers. Please stop sending all the negative feelings and concentrate on sending good ones.

Thank you.
