BDZ just proves TWICE can explore other concepts with sticking to their own signature sound

The concept teasers were girl crush, the MV was awesome and showed a new concept TWICE hadn’t explored with a full story line and spy girlies

 

People can say what they want but at the end of the day TWICE is a pop group among a saturated market full of idols, they found their signature style early and are easily recognised by it, they can release songs and people will love it and love that their sound is still there even if it explores other genres and quirks. Even in Japan they’ve been able to stand out in the 2nd biggest music market in the world..

 

People focus on bright / pop = cute and if you aren’t doing badass then you’re boring, what’s wrong with having fun and having a fun group hnn

 

Their music videos are always interesting and they’ve never repeated concepts.. cmon queens

 

It’s pretty evident that other groups who do cute concepts wouldn’t do what Twice do, so I really don’t see why Twice is immediately dismissed as cute when they’re just a bright pop group

I know but this “whole new concept†they are going for is just a fusion of new clothes + same sound. That’s hardly a “new†concept.

This is just equivalent to how T-ARA transitioned from 80’s Roly Poly to 00’s Lovey Dovey. New setting + same sound.

Yes i was curious based from the teasers but im lowkey disappointed. Thought they are coming with edgy pop song ala Catch Me If You Can. It’s a new story, gotta give you that but this whole concept kpop thing should be attributed to the song solely. I mean first and foremost, music videos wouldn’t even exist without a song. I mean it has to go together to create a concept. Twice should have just sticked to pink bulldozer and cute clothes if this is the type of song they are going for cause Anbu expected a girl power pop anthem.

Honestly, it was a smart idea to slowly change their concept while keep their sound. It was no drastic change and that's still good. And Twice is known for their poppy and cheerful songs which allows people of all ages to enjoy. If Twice were to go for a darker concept and a more mature sound, I feel like it's best to do in Korea rather than Japan since they only debuted a year ago.

hm is true without song there’s no MV but people base concept off of music video concept and usually photo teasers like what sort of concept

 

Song concept and MV concept can be 2 diff things as seen in BDZ, but they still matched each other

 

It’s like saying Bad Boy wasn’t a new concept for RV when they’ve already done mellow and velvety songs

 

People usually base concepts off of the visuals provided, I think with that MVs and concepts play a big part in Kpops appeal

The song is really good and in the end that's all matters.

 

Regarding the MV the intro is fantastic and its development and ending is fun, you don't feel tired even when it lasts 6 minutes.

 

Naturally I would like Twice to try a girl crush, elegant, ballad, sad, etc concepts, but since I come from stan rock-classic music and I'm not a fan of kpop I find this obsession with girl crush/dark concepts a bit silly, some people even believe that a group is only self-realized when do edgy things.

That what you mention applies more to other artists like BlackPink, you can literally summarize almost all their MVs in: BlackPink girls with new outfits doing things and dancing. That's it, there's nothing else. And it's not bad. If BP keeps its edgy concept in almost all of their comeback without it being a problem it should not be for others eitheir.
