A Hamster Named Loneliness 3,680 Posted August 15, 2018 Share Posted August 15, 2018 because of the 90+ degree heat and lots of dry brush, though in the case of the Holy Fire (so named because it started in Holy Jim Canyon) that one was started by an arsonist. Also there's the fact that California (at least SoCal, idk about NorCal) doesn't do what's called "prescribed fires", which is a controlled burning set intentionally by trained professionals to reduce the damage from wildfires.
