footballfina 29,566
INFINITE Return to '80s-Inspired Sound on 'Last Romeo' Looking better than ever, the K-pop boy band returns to their sonic roots on their emotional, explosive new single Following their global travels during their One Great Step world tour, INFINITE makes a solid return to form with new single "Last Romeo". The new track should be a particular delight to longtime fans who see the boys reconnecting with their signature synth-rock sound and longtime producer, Sweetune. Sonically, "Last Romeo" mixes '80s-inspired production (tinny percussion, screeching electric guitars riffs and twinkling synths) with melodic piano scales and peppy trumpet blasts. Pleading to a lover to trust and let them be her Romeo, INFINITE's boy-band belts have a melancholy feel, accentuated by the rushing production. While EDM-heavy 2013 single "Destiny" snagged the group's highest-charting single on the K-Pop Hot 100 to date (No. 3), the composition to "Last Romeo" recalls past hits "Be Mine" and "The Chaser"; aka the early tracks that helped gather and solidify the group's hardcore fanbase. But there are still new surprises to be found in the track: After breaking out via his Toheart project, Woohyun sings more than ever and listeners even get a chance to hear rapper Hoya croon out a couple lines. The official video also sees INFINITE returns to familiar territory while also boasting impactful improvements. The septet of course move as one in mind-boggling choreography configurations, but look more grown-up and sophisticated than ever. Youngest member Sungjong looks more mature, while L pulls off a fashionable, Pharrell-esque mountie hat way cooler than Justin Bieber ever did. Though the accompanying storyline could use some work – the boys run around a library looking for a girl and try reaching for her through the shelves – the climax packs a visual treat, as the entire book collection explodes around Woohyun, making the three-minute chase scene totally worth it. After almost a year away from the K-pop scene, "Last Romeo" should resolidify INFINITE during a competitive month when they're competing against peer act EXO and veteran boy band g.o.d on the charts. The track is the lead single off the band's second full-length album "Season 2" that showcases not only the group, but solo tracks by lead vocalist Sunggyu and Woohyun, as well as new songs from INFINITE-H (the duo subgroup between Hoya and Dongwoo) and the newly-created INFINITE-F (featuring L, Sungyeol and Sungjong). Jeffrey Jung 19,680
Like i said better stick to your own sound than trying to experiment with stuffs you're not familiar with only to make a shitty song and sounding clusterfuck of noises and according to the article itself it's not a bad thing so i don't get the complaint and hate here ... Honestly when will people learn that Infinite is not a digital seller like Beast or Big Bang Stop using the music charts as an excuse us Inspirits already know that since long time ago

Boadicea 2,129
Not much to say. It doesn't go too deep and it compliments the song. It's just word on their comeback. The line of the maknae and L though, yaaas. Even Billboard says "Last Romeo" sounds like everything pre-"Destiny". Poor Inspirits trying to argue the opposite. Obviously not when their single is rapidly falling out of the charts lmfao. What an embarrassment to human kind. Myth is still pressed from before I see. Myth 6,602
"signature synth-rock sound" + "recalls past hits Be Mine and The Chaser" =/= "sounds like everything pre-Destiny". Stop. Their signature sound sure sounds a lot like Nine Muses' signature sound. And Boyfriend' "I Yah". And Heo Youngsaeng's "The Art of Seduction". Hmm, this is starting to not sound like a signature sound... What an embarrassment to human kind. Myth is still pressed from before I see. Me criticizing Infinite's shitty comeback = pressed? I really fail to see your logic even more due to the fact that I liked everything pre-"The Chaser". Pretty sure you're the one who's bothered. Neither Nine Muses nor Boyfriend nor Heo Youngsaeng have ever been considered to have "synth-rock" as their "signature sound". They have individual songs that are "synth-rock", but how does the fact that other people have done some songs in the same style mean that it can't be their "signature sound"? You do realize that what you're saying is that if tomorrow a new group comes out and releases a song in CNBlue's style, then CNBlue has no "signature sound" anymore =___=
thot 1,829
I feel bad for L. Since they can't rely on their music to make money, they're going to be forced to make L take up more gigs showing off his dashing good looks to feed the group. Wee shame. Everything you've said so far makes you pressed. The fact that you're even here makes you pressed. Anyway, that's the beside the point. Sweetune has been recycling Infinite's ~signature sound~ for years, and it's pretty clear case of Infinite being incapable of delivering another outside of that. As for your last bit, the band Say Yes already stole CNBLUE's sound, got criticized for it, and flopped. That's a signature sound. When you hear an Infinite song, you know it's an Infinite song. People have said I Yah sounded like Infinite. Never heard that about Art of Seduction but I can imagine Infinite singing a song like that. Do you think songs like Figaro, Ticket, Dolls, Glue, etc. sound like Infinite tracks? You know it's an Infinite song because of their voices. That's it. No, I don't like any of those recycled tracks. Everything you've said so far makes you pressed. The fact that you're even here makes you pressed. And the fact that you turned into a defensive mongrel when someone took you on about CNBlue, makes you pressed. Your tone and way of wording things makes you pressed. If you are in that much of a denial though, be my guest, pretend all you want. You clearly don't know what it means to be pressed. I criticize Jasmine over in the J-pop section for turning to shit when she once had amazing music. I say it in pretty much every thread that mentions her. Am I also pressed in those instances? I never see comments like yours with J-pop fans here, because they aren't easily bothered like the people in this section. So, if I correct someone's factual inaccuracies, I'm pressed? Okay. Live with delusion. You being unable to handle blunt opinions doesn't meant the person expressing them is bothered.
