Will we ever get another group like f(x)?

Ok but real talk tho. Will we ever see another GG getting close to f(x) concept wise and musically?

Long story short but to me f(x) were truly revolutionary. When I think of this group, words like powerful, edgy and girl crush come to mind. They had one of the most interesting concept ever and most of the "experimental" stuff they did and released back in the day are trending now.

I'm really picky when it comes to music and there are only 3 GG whose discographies I listen entirely and very often: 2ne1, f(x) and RV for the new gen. The quality is just there everytime and all 3 groups are known to have excellent b-sides so their albums are always on my playlist.

Back to f(x), I've been listening to Pink Tape, Red light and 4walls albums again and it's not an exaggeration to say these are one of the most iconic albums in kpop. Pink Tape is a classic (needless to say why), Red Light broke barriers as its concept was extremely bold, dark and powerful. They tried something new and it worked really well (first of all red light is a bop but then you have b-sides like milk, dracula and rainbow that are masterpieces). 4walls completes the flawless series tho I rank it lower than the other 2 cuz I did not like the title track at all. However the b-sides are gold so this album is still up there for me (listen to rude love, when I'm alone, traveler).

They were truly one of a kind and their music had so much quality, their concepts were aesthetics af and they gave kpop everything they wanted and needed in a girl crush group. I miss their music and it looks like they're heading for disbandment. Idk at this point. There's also no other kpop group among the new gen that's giving me the same feeling or aura (I know there are endless comparisons with RV but trust me they're different. RV is quirky and they have a dual concept which differentiates them from f(x) imo).

Welp, here comes nostalgia :rlytearpls: I do wish for a cmb but it seems highly unlikely they're not even part of SM schedule :/ this concept trailer still one of the most iconic in kpop. Pink Tape IS still that album

Musically? Rv has some songs that strongly scream fx (for example when i first heard hit the drum from their latest album the first thing that popped in my mind was fx )

Afterall rv are the product of thr affair fx had with snsd :raep:

Concepts wise? I dont think any group can top them! red light remain legendary :rlytearpls:

nope.

This is why we need f(x) back :rlytearpls: I will be ok if they choose to not continue but give the fans closure and one more cmb at least. It's not even like 4walls flopped...it did very well despite them losing a member...

Feel like pure shit just want them back

im dying at your sig but yeah same, I want more music from them

These are truly the only GGs for me when it comes to music, 2ne1 is no more and f(x) are on "indefinite hiatus" but I always go back to their albums cuz they're that good

The two are always compared and I listen to RV the most out of the new gen GGs but while I do see some similarities, I still don't think this is it tbh, even musically. RV got that softness and bubbly/quirky charm you get from their red side, then switch things up and go full rnb for their velvet side. It's a concept that's unique to them and completely different from f(x) who scream edgy all the way through their music and concepts. I know some songs do remind fans of both groups but I still think they're very different.

Agree with the concept part, no one comes close.

yes JYPs new girl group coming

humm we'll see. I'm anticipating Somi group maybe they will bring it but given JYP track record he's not really into that...

yeah, one more album would be nice and fans would be able to move on. I'm literally blasting the same 3 albums back to back and I need something new lol

We have a lot better groups tho

I can't agree with that. There are lots of GGs but only a few stand out musically (I would say RV, Mamamoo and BP for me). That's not a lot. And like I said, it's still hard to find a group as powerful as f(x) was, musically and concept-wise.

Red Light’s concept and album is legendary for me. Tbh I don’t think we’ll ever have a group like f(x) again.

Red Light was such a masterpiece. Goth Queens really came to snatch, I remember the dark make up on one eye only, the visuals, daring looks and teasers, everyone was shook. Then the album dropped it was a whole experience. From the title track to the b-sides, just perfection.

Yeah they arent as similar as people make them seem. Like I cant see fx doing any of RV concepts. And i cant see rv pulling any of fx concepts besides maybe hot summer and rum pum pum hmm

But i get it, rv music is always more bubbly and easy to digest compared to fx imo. But Fx always seems way cooler~

It really was perfection. I was listening to the album a couple days ago and it hit me that it’s rare to come across an album that has that level of perfection and quality. The b-sides on the album is everything :rlytearpls: Everything about that era was beyond expectation. God I wish I could relive that era, it’s what made me into a fan of f(x)’s music.
