most of you probably saw this pannchoa comment translation/thread earlier  (https://onehallyu.com/topic/711379-%E3%80%90-pannchoa-%E3%80%91-bts-receives-mixed-reviews-over-their-comeback-teasers/)

 

i think some people's reaction to the "weird clothes" and the "ugliness" of the S version pictureS in particular says a lot. kpop fans as a whole are used to concept photos/teaser photos that serve as nothing more than a nice photograph of their bias' new look. kpop is almost wholly based on visual appeal, be it good looking idols or "aesthetic" imagery.

 

so when bts does something that isn't just about sitting there and being pretty (even though it is quite beautiful if you ask me), people just don't get it. when the pictures are focused on more than just their faces, people don't get it.

 

these pictures are a commentary, from the outfits/styling, to the sets, they're saying a lot with just a few pics and no words at all. and THAT"S the power of artistry. saying so much with just a picture and some obscure imagery. being able to criticize the whole entertainment industry in a handful of snapshots is quite the feat.

I really don't see the weird concept that people are talking about !! the pictures are really pretty and the concept is actually interesting . I've seen much much weirder concepts in KPOP and don't understand the fuss or is there other photos I didn't see .

but that's my point. WHY do you think it weird? just because it's different? its a pretty obvious dig on the entertainment industry.

i hate it when people say "its not that deep" in a discussion thread. this thread is an analysis of some criticisms bts is facing because of how kpop is presented to us. it IS deep because all of our behavior is rooted in what is fed to us by the cultures and perspectives we're exposed to. you don't just suddenly think a certain way one day without being influenced.

Listen people will always complain especially when it comes to BTS. And really you can’t please everyone. . I remember when Tears photos came out lots of people complained that they were boring and uninspired. I love these they are giving me life. The weird fashion, the hair, the accessories. I mean if you’re going to do a concept do a CONCEPT. I love both sets so far can’t wait to see the other 2.

am I the only one who thinks people overreact when it comes to concept pics.. like they're not THAT important. As long as the music is good what does it matter.

 

Anyways I find them pretty interesting but I'm not going to pretend I like the clothes.

I feel like they’re not well done. I love the boys, and I love that they want to be innovative all the time, but my inner graphic designer screams about the way the objects are placed around them, I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, and it’s just really weird to me, it doesn’t look pretty. The other concept with the snowball tho, that’s a different story, that’s beautiful.

 

Btw, there’s nothing wrong with pictorial concept photos with idols looking pretty. We don’t always have to look too much into stuff.

I don't mind the concept, but some the the clothes though like what Jin and V are wearing and that teaser pic with the hands is creepy.  Suga and Jungkook look really good though.
