Is Korean plastic surgery just a hype game?

If one is contemplating plastic surgery, should their first choice really be Korea because media says it's the leading plastic surgery nation? Sure I've seen some crazy changes, especially with people who had legitimate medical conditions such as an under-bite so bad it caused chewing problems. But for the most part it would appear that most of their before and after pictures, after pictures mainly, are photoshopped with make up.

That's why they look more appealing vs a western before and after surgery pic. And in the west, vanity is more placed on the body vs the face in Korea, thus Korea's extreme measures of face contouring/sculpting such as jaw shaving, which is still pretty extreme and rare to get. It isn't that common.

They also don't prescribe or have pain medicine the way the west does. I'm finding it hard to believe that they truly do have more advanced technology in this realm because of this fact but I honestly really don't know since i lack resources to learn just what the difference is between their equipment and anyone else's.

So my question, really, is that are they really leading in the plastic surgery world because of their quality work? Or is it because

1. They're cheaper
2. They are in a country that emphasizes a specific way of looking
3. Their global marketing tactic?

Personally, I think they are practically the same, if not, slightly behind with something that could be done by any good doctor in any country that has a culture for vanity, especially in contrast to the west. I am seeing more and more Youtubers fly over to Korea to get something done just because it was Korea. It lacks common sense, is all I'm saying.

You should look up vlogs on YouTube. There are foreigners who go and post their before and after without all that make-up and editing. Ofc just like with plastic surgery anywhere else in the world, some come out better than others.

Also I believe that some places actually do give out the pain dulling medication.

It's all about the way they mediatize it. Whether be it Kpop, CFs or plastic surgery, Koreans know how to add glitz and glamour to things and make them seem better than they actually are. They don't lie about how good their plastic surgery is, but it is still as good as some random American plastic surgeon.

With the amount of surgeries they do , they are bound to be good at it. I wouldn't recommend if you aren't Asian because most of their experience is from fixing up Asian faces (and also their standard of beauty is different from the west).

I was thinking about this last night.  I feel like a lot of the numbers are based on the fact that people get their eyelids done sort of like how kids get braces in the US.  I've seen videos from people being interviewed on the street saying that double eyelid surgery isn't even personally considered to be plastic surgery to them, but just something that everyone does.

I've seen a video recently talking about Gangnam and how shady many of these PS clinics are.  There's a few lawyers who specialize specifically in law against plastic surgeons who mess up people's faces.  I think there's a show about transforming someone back to how they looked before PS as well.

ALSO I'll find the video but apparently there's forums that market toward people who are traveling to Korea to get surgery done.  On these forums, there's people who are paid to refer people to shady clinics with fake reviews.  Apparently the fake reviews are apparently becoming more and more common, and the anesthesia is apparently often administered by surgeons or nurses, not even an anesthesiologist.

Idk the whole industry seems shady to me ever since I watched this video:

I thought that reputation came from them being the 'experts' in asian plastic surgery and they have people around asia (where they value those facial surgeries) flying there for surgery.

So I think that reputation has trickled down to the west. I do agree that if you live in a developed country you can find a good surgeon there and get similar results. I've not researched price or anything like that to see if it's comparatively cheaper in korea.

Only (South) East Asians should eaven consider it imo

I've seen about five or six cases of black people getting their surgery done there. Only one came out looking decent but she could have gotten her procedures done in the U.S. Black women should consider going to ethnic doctors that are most familiar with our faces.
