So how do you stand to this topic, for or against it? Or no real opinion?

Would this give the teachers too much power?

Or do you fear abuse of some teachers? Like frustrated teachers who vent their anger on children with acts of violence

Are there better solutions than violence?

The whole point of hitting is to make students regret what they did wrong but by hitting students, students might not regret what they did and start disliking the teacher that hit them. If the problem grows like that, hitting student will be no use..

Or are in some special cases no other methodes possible? Violence is justice in this kind of cases

Or should we look for other methodes?

Or do teachers already do it at your school? If yes how do you feel about it, does it bring better results?

When I was in school they still allowed swats to be done tbh. But it was done in place of serving detentions (serve the detention or take the swat).

Because I didn't see it as a big deal and it wasn't that teachers generally hit students, I guess I'm not as affected by it. And it wasn't the teachers who did it but the principal. It was also a very small town if that says anything as well.

I guess in general though I feel like that's not something for the teachers to really decide and should be discussed with parents, because I think they have a right to decide who lays a hand on their child tbh. And since I don't have any children to really know how I'd feel, I guess I can't come to a conclusive answer.

Depends. Because obviously the policy is open to possible abuse.

I just find it absolutely horrible when a teacher is given verbal and physical abuse, and because they are a teacher, they are supposed to just take this and they can't respond to it. It's mentally scarring, and I have been in a few classrooms where teachers have broken down from it, or have suffered emotionally from it.

There has to be strict rules and regulations. Such as it can only be done with a parents permission. The punishments must be documented, and be done with an authoritative figure around. But honestly, I think some kids are such bastards that they deserve a little bit of a smack around. I would hand out some vigilante justice myself when I was a student in jr high because the kids were THAT bad.

Personally I've been sort of hit by a teacher a couple of times (granted it was 20+ years go), with her wooden pointer and it can get the job done. Overall I don't think it's their place to do it, but I can see how sometimes they feel the need to.
