Your Thoughts on Modern Day Witchcraft/Paganism?

My mom practices. It makes her happy, and she's not hurting anyone. She just loves to commune with nature and be an open minded person.

I have no problem with people practicing whatever, as long as they aren't trying to force it on others or hurt/oppress them.

I know a few people who are full-on neopagan religion practitioners (Heathenism and Druidry mainly). It sounds like an interesting take, and I considered diving into it a while back when doing some readings on Wiccan beliefs.

Then again, I'm from a culture that heavily believes in the supernatural so it's kinda already in me.

That's awesome! don't worry - I am not ignorant, I am very open-minded to learning more about it, is she Wiccan by Religion or does she just practice Witchcraft?

It’s a subculture, nothing to get worked up about. We have them every generation.

I suppose you are referring to the re-emergance of Paganism in the form of Neo-Paganism + Wicca?

because Paganism and the practice of Witchcraft has been around for Decades and precede some Mainstream Religions, in fact Christian Holidays are directly influenced by the Pagan traditions (Spring Equinox = Easter, Winter Solstice = Christmas etc), it's just been a lot more lowkey because you know...historically Abrahamic Religions haven't been opposed to burning witches at the stake.

Weird but whatever I ain’t gonna say shit to em

what do you mean by that?

Nah, I mean they are the Goths, Punks, Scenes etc. of this generation. Some of them were associated with satanism the same way witch aesthetics girls today are associated with wicca and the like. It’s a phase, it will go away like all the others have and be remembered fondly in the future as the good old teen phases of 2010s.

No offence but you're coming across as very ignorant and don't seem to understand that Satanism and Paganism have very few similarities, for instance Satanism is directly associated with Abrahamic Religions whereas Paganism is associated with the Old Nature based Religion and Practices.

What does goths and punks being associated with 'Satanism' have to do with the practice of Witchcraft and Paganism? Like I mentioned before, these practices have been around for Decades, and many have practiced the craft all their lives, the movement may be gaining more steam amongst youngsters these days because a lot of the secrecy is fading due to Social Media but I think you're being disrespectful to the people who practice it by calling their religion and beliefs a 'phase', of course there will be those people who eventually grow out of it but for many that just isn't the case.
