In the mid 2000s Janet Jackson‘s career found itself hanging in the balance thanks to blows it had received from Super Bowl gate, some creative missteps and the pressure to compete in a business determined to erase her contributions to Pop culture.

Now, after taking time away from the spotlight, Jackson finds herself enjoying what may be the best comeback story in years, powered by sold-out tours, new music and her decision to play by her own rules.

The sum of her success? $11 million.

Awesome news below…

Janet generated $10.9 million from touring alone this year making her one of the highest-earning acts in the world and securing her a spot on Billboard’s Highest-Paid Musicians list!

Below her? Taylor Swift.

Why? Taylor’s epic ‘Reputation World Tour’ kicked off in May meaning Billboard was unable to include its earnings when compiling this list.

The good news?

She made the list thanks to her astronomically high music sales.

Sales, which were elevated by the $2.4 million she’s earned from streaming, the $5 million she bagged via pure units and the $2 million she sees from publishing!

Congratulations to all!

It's cool that Janet is still making significant money in 2018, but I think the title is a bit disingenuous, as when you read closer the bulk of a musicians income is touring and Swift hasn't this year (or it isn't included). If she had, she would've ranked higher than Janet.

A fairer statement would be Janet making almost as much as Ariana and/or more than Twenty One-Pilots and the Chain Smokers (who all have toured this year) which would've carried the same message; an iconic diva making as much money as popular mainstream artists.
