Ok so i was waiting for Muish to read the lyrics but then I read them anyway and.....

 

 

this album is totally about a failed relationship/attempt to save a relationship.

 

It starts in Tokyo, where he's yearning for someone.

Then back to Seoul, lamenting how he wants to leave the city but can't bc it had a hold on him. It's a good place to live if you can afford it aka the relationship is worth it if they're willing to pay the price.

Then Moonchild is all about being children of the darkness aka not being able to come out in the day - a hidden relationship. He's pleading with the person to accept this status of the relationship.

Then Badbye, they tried but the relationship's over.

UhGood, he's lonely again and trying to get over it. He knows it's better to be alone but he doesn't want to be.

Everythinggoes - coming to terms with it being over.

ForeverRain - it's over but he's still contemplating and walking in the city alone again.

 

I usually don't do theories but damn this smacked me upside the head.

maybe i'm late and you guys figured it our already but all i keep seeing is people thinking it's about self-love and about him coming to terms with himself and it kinda is but mostly about a relationship.

 

GURL after listening to Mono multiple times I feel like all the English lyrics points to a relationship with a lover 

 

Tokyo - I want to start my day with you, I want to start my dream with you, Am I missing myself or your face etc.

Seoul - I love you so (seoul but it sounds like so), I hate you so

Moonchild - Moonchild, don't cry, when the moon comes it's your time

Badbye - basically the whole song

Uhgood - All I need is me, All you need is you, but why do I feel lonely, I feel so lonely when I am with me

Everythingoes - everythingoes lol

Forever rain - not sure about this one but the mood is like him contemplating and comforting himself 

 

UGH there are so many possible interpretations we are never gonna get sick of Mono lol

Man! Nowadays, after hearing Mono, I am whipped by RM. I have been checking out all his videos and saw all the subbed episodes of Problematic Men (oh I love that show so much!!) Now, I am watching all fan-made videos my husband is so done with me :P

 

Mono has been on repeat since it was released. The interesting thing about this album is that it sounds way more amazing when I am driving. These days, I drive around without any reason just to blast Mono in my car (RIP gas bills). 

 

I usually lurk around OH and now when I have found this haven, I will check out this thread daily :D

And totally can relate to the mono sounds even better when commuting. It's my go to album on the bus/subway or when I am walking.

I wrote this elsewhere but quoting myself:

 

Sometime in maybe 2017, I was listening to Kid Cudi's Passion, Pain and Demon Slaying and it dawned on me that was a similar sound that I wanted from the next RM project. Stripped down, weird, moody, ambient and kind of messy. I loved RM (it's still my favorite all time project that any BTS entity has put out as a group or solo) but it was obvious from Always and Reflection that he was expanding into something else. It was rough and not well formed yet, but it was taking shape. Not that the first mixtape didn't hint at things to come. I can feel Voices, I Believe, Life and Adrift in mono. A lot of people are saying they haven't seen this style from RM before, but those people just weren't paying attention (not surprising).

 

 

 

eAeon said in an interview that he first got the demo for Badbye 1-2 years ago and we know Always and Sea were demos for it, so it's probably been in the works since late 2015 at least. He gave us the 'mono' title hint in a tweet in 2015. I'm dying to know what he's working on right now. If Trivia: Love is any indication, it's going to be bouncier and more buoyant. I feel like there's another side to mono. that he hasn't revealed yet (on twitter people have been joking about wanting 'stereo.' to match 'mono.')

 

Anyway, despite him starting to work on it awhile back, it doesn't feel outdated or off trend. And like others have mentioned the production is amazing. It's like he was waiting to unleash his full power on us after giving us just a taste with Always and Reflection. Moonchild in particular has so many layers to it. The bass in Tokyo and Badbye is heavenly, as is the vocal layering in Badbye. There's so many good things to say about it.

 

I'll probably write a longer track by track review in the RM thread at some point but I just wanted to ramble a bit. I love this project for a lot of reasons. It wasn't completely what I wanted from him - I want a new God Rap, RM! - but it was better than my expectations. Already anxiously awaiting his next project while looping mono. like it's my job. 

 

 

anyway, i still can't pick my favorite song but i think it's between moonchild and uhgood

he's my bias wrecker in BTS.


 


i currently have a lot of down time as i'm recovering from surgery. i'd really appreciate it.


 


i had to work a lot to be able to fit this operation into my schedule and i missed A LOT of things - bts stuff included

i just want in on the action and the threads are not as in depth as i'd like. i'm on so many pain meds it's easiest for me to just click and watch right now. 


 


but also i want to beef up my sns to get kpop heavy and i need help with that. i'm starting with RM and yoongi first.  meowfaceplz.png
