f(x)'s Amber responds to people calling her 'jobless'

must be weird going from being an idol in a popular group to participating in parodies of others, I wish f(x) would just have their goodbye comeback already.

y'all are gonna get mad at me for saying this but:

It's strange the way Amber's career has sort of shifted over to YouTube. It's odd seeing someone from the biggest kpop company in Korea... like, doing average youtuber things. And youtubers don't have a very good reputation in the first place, yknow?

Just, hear me out here: I think Amber is tarnishing her image by being a youtuber. Not because she's doing anything controversial, but because it's not an "A-list idol" thing to do. It makes her image come across as, for lack of a better word, a commoner. With the rest of normal society. And that's not something appreciated by Koreans, when it comes to celebrities. I think it would have been better to stick with some modeling and subtle stuff like that until SM lets her comeback, then that would make a bigger impact. Because why bother listening to a new song and buying it if you can just go to her YouTube channel and watch her parodies and personal MVs for free.

Whatever makes her happy is fine by me, but from a strictly business and marketing point of view, it was a bad move imo. And I'm surprised that SM allowed it in the first place.

idk suhyun has a youtube channel and it doesn't lessen her worth as an artist.

i think the problem you're seeing with amber is with the content. suhyun does makeup, song covers, and occasional music/life bts that has an overall feeling of being very polished. amber does parodies and more average youtube stuff, which guys into "relatable culture".

F(x) was never SM's crown group, like this would probably ring true if Taeyeon or someone from SNSD switched over to being a youtuber, but Amber never had much of the spotlight to begin with. Most of the articles written about her are for her masculine style and her friendships with other idols, not her music, not anything actually tied to her talent as a idol. She was never really taken seriously as an idol in Korea and she doesn't have a big fanbase there the way she does with intl fans so it's just Amber working the only thing people see in her- her personality. Let's not act like Shake that Brass or any of those EDM releases made an impact

mmhm that's what I mean, like her videos are something my friends would make, yknow? She comes off as trying to be relatable, mostly to Americans that enjoy memes.

...? that's the whole point of what i??? just said???

She's making youtube vids because she's not an A-list idol.

A-List idol is the  who are getting paid top dollar for whatever they did, is difficult to hire , have huge public recognition

B-List idol is the one who goes here and there on variety show, appear on tv / doing mini musical , have medium public recognition

C-list is the one who occassionally appear on SNS , and spend most of the time hiatus

D-List is almost jobless , even their fans don't know for sure what they are doing at the moment.

she is D to C

people never just let amber live. they want her to be so controlled, like most other kpop idols. yall are really buying into the "idols are just products" narrative, it's really unfortunate.

I mean, they kind of are products at this point. Acknowledging reality doesn't mean you condone it *shrug*

edit: lol i wonder who negged meimstupid.png

but you just endorsed it, in your post.

You don't seem to understand how the world works. It's not an endorsement to recognize what is true. If you wanna continue living in a fantasy world, then by all means... I know marketing, and marketing dictates that this was a bad move. That has nothing to do with my personal opinion. You'll notice that I said "if it makes her happy, then go for it." Don't demonize me for being realistic 0u0plz.png

i understand very well how the world works, how insulting and condescending. i simply think it's a shame that even now you think of Amber as someone to be marketed, before you see her as someone with her own goals and wishes. she's clearly past the point of wanting advice on how to "fix" her image. she's never been that girl, she is living her life and it's a great thing.

nowadays popular youtuber make a living more than average people.

And I start to hear little kids expressing their future aspiration to be a youtuber.

I was surprised at first because never I think a youtuber is a high esteemed profession but to think again, We lives in a different world nowadays and Amber possibly enjoying her sweet sweet live more than he ever felt while worked to death being part of a korean girl group.

who knows?

You're still not getting it. It's not about how I see her. You're cherry-picking my words anyways, so I'm gonna stop. I'm not insulting you, you just need to wake up.

Amber's career in Korea is finished, and she knows it. She doesn't care about being an idol anymore, and SM allowed her to do things on Youtube precisely because they have no plans for her, at this point they're just letting her contract run out. She won't renew and will concentrate on making a career in the US, where being a Youtuber can really help (ask Pentatonix).

This thread amuses me very much. Thanks though, it's been a dull week for me

1. The op is the biggest amber/f(x) fan in denial (why fans? I haven't even see that thing and I follow several very dedicated amber's fans)

2. First commenters are not fans, as fans wouldn't say those.

3. The replies are just downright amusing - theyre in the dark room talking about the thing inside the room.

My city doesn't have official Nike shop, if you visit/pass by one, can you please take the picture of the posters?
