Were you born into a wealthy family?

How do you think it impacted your life?

For me, I have gotten one of the best educations in the country and was able to always eat/wear whatever I wanted. But I think that back when I was a child/teenager, I had a very narrow view of the world and thought everyone had the same privileges. Looking back, I also think being born wealthy makes you take things for granted, I worked hard for a lot of things but I also thought that there was no chance for failure. Now that I'm an adult with my own job, I realise how foolish I was

Nope, my parents used to be backpacker hippies and we traveled all the time so we didn't have a set place to live, until I was like 5

but as I grew up my parents decided to settle and they started making money and creating a good life for me and my sister

nowadays I live comfortably thanks to their efforts and I also value everything I have

Lawl nah. But my family condition get better as I age. I went to a good school, enjoy delicious meal, have a nice time over all. But I also experience the struggle. I saw how my parents works so hard to bring food on the table and how their works didn't betray them. It makes everything sweeter to me because 1) I know the bitter part of life 2) the length my parents would go just so I could have dinner --even if it means they would starve themselves. Thats love right there.

I had a weird upbringing where my mother raised me to believe we were very poor and I grew up in a poor neighborhood thinking we were struggling but then in my teen years, turned out my grandparents had left her and me a good chunk of change that my mother hid from me for years. I think my upbringing made it easier for me to truly care about income inequality and poverty to a degree that most born rich tend to miss out on (I see so many kind and well-meaning upper class folks that just don't understand how hard it can be to succeed), but I'm also damned glad I'm able to pay for my education and housing without having to worry about where it'll come from. I still live relatively modestly (cheap studio apartments, no car, no extravagant vacations, old phone, wear the same sensible clothes until they fall apart), but I can walk into a store and buy all the groceries I need for the week and maybe a few extra things to try just 'cuz I want to, without even checking the prices, and I know that's not the reality for most people.

Are you me lmao? Just that the fake-poor is my dad

no, my family was kind of poor (single parent household lol), I ended up getting into a selective school in senior high (through a scholarship) and after HS left my backwater town and got into uni, the irony is that my family started actually making money and having a stable job after I left for uni :)

Yes I was. Also like you, I had the same thought that everyone was born with the same privileges as me. I didn't understand that there were people out there in the world that didn't have money or can't even afford to eat or have place to sleep. I grew up having maids and butlers helping me and doing stuff for me. I am also lucky that I am able to get a good education and going to college without worrying whether I will be in debt. Though I am lucky that my mom and stepdad still are able to have time for me and my sibling cuz some of my friends have parent that have money, but no time for them.

No and till this day I feel self conscious around everyone bc most of my clothes are from middle school (I'm 23)* , I have a cheap phone (my moms old phone), same for my laptop (I'm thankful for it though bc for uni most of the studying needs a computer and internet) and when friends tell me to go out w/ them I might not have even 5 spare euros so I have to decline. Sucks but at least I have a roof over my head, food and the nicest doggo on earth

* thank God I have the same height as then and 5-7 kg more but my mom always made me buy 1 size larger clothes back thenlaugh.png

Nah, we had to move around a lot during my childhood. Even had to live in another state for a year. Things got better as I grew up though. Love my parents.
