UMJI MOODS 11,514 Posted July 22, 2018 Share Posted July 22, 2018 DC didn't maintain Captain Marvel's copyright after they aquired him in the mid50's. Marvel has had 3 Captain Marvels since the 60s. So DC decided to sue Fawcett comics because of the similarities and they won so they took Captain Marvel/Shazam and he became a DC character. Meanwhile Marvel of course didn’t like the fact that DC was about to introduce a new major superhero named Captain Marvel among their lineup so they decided to trademark everything that had the word Marvel.
