So far the 3 episodes have been entertaining enough to pull my interest on the show but not to the point to be totally immersed.

Angolmois has managed to successfully introduce the show's setting and the current situation of the characters in it so far.

Also, is managing in giving background, either history or motives, to some characters as why they are part of the plot in a progressive way through the show's development.

However, my worry relies on Kuchii, the protagonist, not because is bland nor dislikeable, but I sense that for plot's sake it will be an overpowered character. Which would not fit with the show's content that was displayed so far, in special on episode 2, which pretty much showed that "patriotism" (?) is not enough to take down an enemy.

Hope it does not go that way.

Finally, the animation feels a bit lackluster for the fighting scenes and the art style and aesthetics just do a good job in giving that "historic" feel, nothing extraordinary neither mediocre.

Despite that this episode felt  draggy, it did a good job in introducing the new enemies from the Mongol side and the animation improved it's game on the fight scenes...and the gore content as well.

And, as expected, Kuchii is OP, however, at least is displayed he has skills he worked on and has a background story and a developed personality...is just that he is the only one winning so far in battle among it's group while the rest gets injured, dies or retreat and him, nah, safe and neat so far. But his character make up of it for now.

Hope episode 5 delivers with the cliffhanger aftermath.

Well, Tehuri finally displayed her habilities as a warrior and now I want to see them on an actual battle and not as an impulsive act of revenge.

And it was refreshing to see that Kuchii almost got in trouble but got saved by that general who-I-cant-recall-his-name and, moreover, this episode helped to inforce that, no matter how powerfull/skillfull Kuchii is, the mongols are stil way powerfull and on advantage.

However, the animation killed the mood of the most interesting points of the episode and, despite a huge piece of information was dropped regarding Kuchii as a character, at some points it felt boring, and I'm not refering at the historical but on how it was executed.

Anyhow, the despair of Tsushima's survivors and the exiles' (well, Kuchii to be more exact) attitude toward their situation against the mongols is quite an spectacle to see, despite the odds being against everyone.

This episode managed to be funny for two reasons, one; The production quality for the fight scenes is getting worse to the point is funny seeing them rather than intense or touching and finally, the strategy to slow down the mongols and the outcome of it in this episode was brilliant.

And the death parade continues along with the "What's the point of fighting if we are going to lose?" reflection. Because the show is doing great displaying that for every step Kuchii and company made the mongols do ten steps in response. The despair and disappointment from the Tsushima's army (Tehuri included, gurl already shown she is giving her all for the island she is princess of) is only relieved, until certain point, thanks to Kuchii and the other exiles' mindset on this war, which serve as a cooler to all the heat of low hopes for Tsushima.

'Gotta say, I feel the show is trying to make every death like a touching and miserable one, and they are achievining on the miserable side, by contrasting the victims's ideals with the harsh reality and how those ideals are the ones which truly end up setting such character with death. However, in the touching side not much is being achieved, either 'cause none of the characters touched my heart or the execution of it is just superficial compared to the miserable characteristic.

On a final note, the gore is more blatant and explicit this time but hard to take it seriously due the production.

This episode went more "easy" and calm compared to the other episodes, and even had it's funny moments. But not enough to make it outstanding.

There was some character background regarding Tehuri, a quick new introduction to the new stage on which the gang is now on and even a cliffhanger.

On a side note, 'gotta appreciate that Kuchii not only is OP in pshyque but on mind as well. The fact that it found the flaws of the castle after checking it out in it's entirety and confront their "guardians" set a nice step-stone for a new conflict.

However, it feels the production value is still dropping to the point it even reached this non-action secuences. Which, unless they make the script a bit more "explosive", it could heavily affect the overall enjoyment of the series. I mean, the fight scenes are already suffering of that.

This was the most interesting and intense episode so far, adding that spice I felt it was missing.

Last episode set a solid foundation regarding the castle conflict and this episode delivered in continuing that moreover the betrayal plot was handled beautifully, in a sense it managed to pull me in and even give a plot-twist and keep a tense atmosphere during the rest of the show.

Moreover, is just me or the production improved a bit in the sense it felt more fluid compared to past episode...but then again the fight animations reached a point of mediocrity that even the slightest improvement would had surpassed them by a huge gap.

I like the direction the series took this time, hope it will mantain it on what it seems the road to the climax.

Despite that they still have problems with the productions, this episode provided the greatest fight so far for this anime and even managed to top the previous episode.

Kuchii still act like an ancient jesus-kun, but the plan it provided on how it was put on game was jaw-dropping moreover it gave space to the other cast to put their part on the fight. Another point is that the script pulled off well the plot-twists to make it bend smoothly with the war development...althought it left me wonder when they came with that.

Nonetheless, I'm loving this final stage of the anime a lot.

Well that was anticlimactic after that cliffhanger. But somehow I felt it was not rushed and fits the show logic. (Kuchii is master of a powerfull technique which made him god-tier fighter, knee down you peasants!). However, it killed the mood of the episode and killed as well the strike of awesomeness it had the past two episodes.

Despite that, it still managed to provided some solid world building and definitely warming up the huge clash between the mongols and the Japanese.

Taking production issues aside, this was a captivating battle plot-wise. Managing to tell a tense an interesting story about a war that it was bound to be lost.

Some complaints would be that some characters deaths could had been handled better, bringing back the problem of the show failing to give enough time to showcase key side-characters so I can be fond on them and my other complaint is that despite the tight situation they are now they sure had a lot of time in the middle of attacks to drop their inner thought, which kill the mood of being outsized in soldiers and thus in possibilities to win the war.

I can see the charm of these final episodes is on what would be the attitude of the character once is murdered on war. The game is set, mongols have won all is left now is fight for honor rather than for victory and I appreciate the script went this way instead of an unrealistic hope of victory.

Well, this was an interesting ending, I would say it wasn't black (Mongols win) nor white (Japanese win) but rather grey (a bit of both) and really left me satisfied more than I had expected.

The production budget improved a bit so the fight scenes were better...but is nothig to throw fireworks about it. The problem of delivering tragic emotional deaths by half-assing the emotional background was still present; It would had been better if just left the deaths as deaths and not trying to make it emotional because is obvious all the plot development went to Kuchii. However, they stepped up a bit that game with one death; yeah, Kuchii was Jesus-kun until the end but 'gotta appreciate how it worked, but I guess is because the script focused on founding the backgroung of his skills and motives.

On a separate note, the series handled well the topic of "why fight a war", even thought, like I said, Kuchii received the most attention from the script, but still displayed the variety of beliefs from the cast.

Overall, it felt draggy in the midle of the ride and picked up by the final episodes, but it ended in a higher note than what I expected.
