MNET Produce Series is actually inspired by Twice SIXTEEN survival show

Produce101 actually announced 5months after Sixteen successful run.

90% of the show concept is same like Sixteen.

1. Voting-Sixteen probably the first survival show in Mnet that has audiences voting poll online (maybe I'm wrong). The differences is Sixteen didn't used the voting for elimination but as a way for JYP monitored whom public favorite to guide his decision in the final for members selection while Mnet has an extravagant elimination stage with mems ranking announcement with huge amount of people (that's why, it make people think of AKB48 election)

2. Grading system- Sixteen has Major vs Minor as a grading for skill/readiness while Mnet is ABC

3. Individual audition- Sixteen start with members showing their charms and skill vs company audition cuz no time for individual audition

4. Unit covered mission

5. Original song unit stage at final episode

The only mission missing from Sixteen that is exist in Produce is position mission.

Therefore, I think the show actually inspired by Sixteen as they following 90% of the show concept for their next show just few months later (which is Produce) cuz Sixteen is pretty successful in Korea.

'Inspired' here I doesn't mean that most of concept is original but the potential successful rate that they find through Sixteen concept.

mnet did sixteen too

I know

But JYPE probably give idea what they want. I don't think Mnet will be like oh, lets contact JYPE and make a survival show based on JYPE trainees for their debut. But more like JYPE initiated and put the cost too. The show point is to promote their future group.

Isnt it based on akb, senbatsu is the grading system, center position and the teams/units

Even when it start airing in 2016 people said mnet took the idea of akb whole concept

And who is next and mix and match exist before with online voting too, those shows also had original songs

Senbatsu is for popular contest, not skill.

Sixteen Major vs Minor is based on company staff to put the trainees on their skill.

And yeah, I'm not sure about voting so I'm saying maybe I'm wrong.

P.S you mean voting ranking announcement during elimination? You can say it inspired by them. I just mean the whole show itself is closely Sixteen with the mission and grading.

but a-f ranking dont matter after a while (1-3 epis.) while the elimination (senbatsu concept) is a recurring constant topic

There is a reason mnet said they were trying to contact aki team for so long

If Sixteen is purely based on their skill, Chaeyeon should be the one who debuted instead of Sana

Grading is one of concept not the main goal (just like with Produce). Missions exist for a reason.

Chaeyeon isn't great in the show. She is in minor along with Sana. She lack of confident and that's why, Minyoung which had higher skill and in original 6mix mems (and start as a major) didnt make it cuz she has all this melt down over confident and she make stupid decision over song choice (that made her crack). And JYP also consider age issue too.

There are only 7trainees start as a major and 9 in minor. They switch position based on the mission success.

Sixteen was a popularity contest too tho. Otherwise Sana and Tzuyu wouldn't have made it into the group without skills and the most talented ones got eliminated due to lack of popularity. And not to mention Momo. Was already eliminated yet made it into the group due to what? Popularity.

Momo made it into the group because TWICE needed a dancer and she was the best dancer in 16.

If she was that great of a dancer, she wouldn't have lost twice against natty and she wouldn't have been eliminated. Jyp probably saw that she was popular and put her last minute into the group.
