m00diculous 2,763
Don't sleep on the underrated but extremely talented 92-liners among kpop idols Disclaimer: opinion post. I’ll try to touch on all the 92-liners I know. If I missed out on anyone, it’s because I don’t know enough about them or don’t know them at all. Please bring my attention to them by sharing, if that’s the case. The Severely Underrated Chanyeol EXO-L’s, I don’t follow EXO. Maybe he’s where he should be as an idol and artist. But I think he’s severely underrated if I only just found out that this guy is actually freakishly musically talented. I’m not saying he’s a prodigy, but he could practically be a one-man band! The guy can sing, play the guitar, piano, and drums. He’s obviously the most talented with the guitar. Just being able to show this off in EXO concerts (and Sketchbook sometimes) is not enough. He could honestly go solo as an indie artist. Has he promoted in a sub-unit yet??? Tell me, please. Kpop hates anyone that’s not a tenor vocalist, so of course, they put this dude in a rapper role. GTFO. Nothing against the rappers in kpop idol, obviously. I love my idol rappers when they have the talent and the passion for it, but Chanyeol is clearly being restricted by that role. I’m so bitter. I get that he finally got to shine with Stay With Me from the Goblin OST, but that’s over a year ago and I don’t think it’s enough. Judging by the two covers below alone, he has serious musicality. As in, he has a good grasp of how he wants to portray music, and he makes the songs sound like his own by adding his own nuances. He has a good rasp-ish, base tone, but has the ability to hold long notes without that rasp and it comes off smooth. Chanyeol covering Creep while playing the guitar (highlight: 1:02-1:08) Chanyeol covering All of Me while playing the piano. Even had to multi-task earlier on, by singing, playing with one hand, and trying to keep the mic in place. (highlight: the falsetto! even adds a bit more adlibbing starting around 2:17) Stan this tall, multi-tasking, multi-talented underrated king! Hani I think most kpop stans already know that Hani is a great singer and great in variety. But come on!!! I know Solji is probably the most vocally talented in EXID, but Hani has the most unique vocal colour in EXID and clearly has an affinity for jazz-style singing. She’s not meant to sing on high female kpop group keys. She’s meant to sing in her natural register, and lower. And dayum, I could listen to that lower register on loop for days. She has soo much potential to go solo. Her label needs to give her the opportunity to do that. She’s fantastic. It was great that she was able to join music competition shows in the past, but I seriously think that’s not enough. Maybe not solo, but featurings even??? I really hope to see her develop her music career some moaarrrr. Hani singing Kiss Me with a jazzy vibe Hani singing Kiss Me with a jazzy vibe Hani singing Honey in Masked Singer. I love this so much. Stan this tall-ish, vocally talented underrated queen! Right where they need to be in terms of their career, but you should still know how talented they are if you only pay attention to your ult idol group. In no particular order: Hyunsik (BTOB) Composer and vocalist, he’s had producer and lyricist credits dating as far back as 2013. He co-wrote and co-composed their last title track, Missing You, which was a gigantic hit (based on charting and longevity), and their most recent comeback song, Only one for me. His talents are being properly utilized. I don’t know about BTOB fans, but I’m currently more than satisfied with his career track right now. Zico (Block B) He’s doing more than amazing both in Block B and especially as a solo artist. He killed it last year when he came out with his solo mini, Television. He produced one of Wanna One’s songs from their most recent album, just featured in Crush’s title track, ’s released just today, is holding his first solo concert on August , and is coming out with a collab song with IU. Honest arguably one of the most successful idols to come out of the 92-line batch. Moonbyul (MAMAMOO) She just released a featuring Red Velvet’s Seulgi and has been incredibly active and in her projects (byuldabang) and MAMAMOO, for which she got the chance to show off her diehard love for TVXQ and dance and sang a . If it was last year, I’d move her up to underrated, but I’d say she’s finally being allowed to let her true talents shine and has only been going upwards from here on. She’s been writing most of her rap lyrics since their debut, which is great, coz royalties, baby! MAMAMOO’s upcoming comeback mini, Red Moon, focuses on her, and if it’s anything Hwasa’s impact during their Yellow Flower mini album era, I anticipate her reaping at least some of the benefits of this era. Sandeul (B1A4) Well known for being an amazing vocalist, and probably considered one of the best male vocalists in kpop. He’s had projects as a solo artist before and has gone on Immortal Songs 2 on her own a couple of times and won. More than once. He’s competing against powerful, well-known vocalists in the industry. As a Mamamoo fan, I know the scope of how impressive that is, but it’s like quadruple the impressive when you go at it alone. He’s also singing OST songs on his own and performed in some musicals. MUSICALS. Honestly, if you’re a powerhouse vocalist and an idol, I feel like they should be able to get to do that at least once, and he got to it six times (so far)! I would say he’s doing more than alright for his own. (Note: One of the IS2 performance where he won was with Baro, who is also 92-line, whom I didn’t include because I don’t know much about him. I apologize B1A4 fans). Jin (BTS) Compared to past comebacks, getting more parts! As he should be. Boy can sing just as well as the other vocalists in BTS for the vocal range required in their music. With how extremely active BTS is, he’ll have plenty of more opportunities to shine. It's definitely where we got to see him sing his beautiful solo song Awake which he co-wrote and co-produced! Sunmi Also living it lit as a solo artist, she made a big hit with Gashina, came back this January, and is coming back again in September. She has a lovely 4D personality, and is currently in Secret Unnie as Seulgi’s unnie. The work is steady, and that’s awesome! I’m more than certain her upcoming comeback is heavily anticipated and will be a bop. Jinho (Pentagon) Main vocal, Pentagon is still on the rise and just found their hit with Shine. He gets the belts and the high notes, and as long as Pentagon follows an ascending trend of success, he’s on the right track to show off his true talents some more. Hyuna Living it lit as a solo artist. She’s doing fine, and I don’t feel any worries that she’s underrated. Her sass and stage presence are worth the watch, and as long as she’s good at working the crowd and still consistently releasing songs every year (which she is), then she’ll be bringing it all that dough from festivals. She’s coming back as part of the unit group, Triple H on the 18th. Please look forward to it! Bottom line Stop sleeping on our talented 92-line club

Shinku 3,906
Thanks for recognizing Yeolie~ boy has a talent, lots of people dragged him but if we talk about vocals he's good can play instruments and compose. Also my fave he covered 5 cm per second ost
JNT-LEGGO 6,380
100% agree, my personal faves are Hyunsik and Hani. Yuna from AOA and Shownu from Monsta X don't really get the credit they deserve. Also, L from Infinite, Yura from Girls Day and Kyung from Block B all have surprisingly wonderful singing voices. And Lim from the Wonder Girls is a well rounded and excellent performer. I hope to hear from her in the future.

JNT-LEGGO 6,380
And the late EunB (Ladies Code) had a lot of potential. She had a lot of confidence and attitude in this performance.

Chasang's child 7
I love Zico to death but he is so overworked. I understand it's his choice but he's throwing his life in jeopardy by working so hard all the time. I'm afraid that someday his heart will give out..... back in 2011 he had to visit the hospital weekly due to his heart.....I worry for him. Chu chu~ 2,534
Chanyeols one of those idol rappers who I love listening to in slow songs. There are some idol rappers who are considered the best, I won't mention who but they're not listed in this post, who's voices sound so rough even in their group's slow songs and it ends up putting me off? But with Chanyeol he can make his voice sound soft, so even if all he is, is an "idol" rapper, I still love his voice.
