[Analysis] Japanese girls who made the biggest impression on Produce48 so far

PD48 is holding its first elimination this friday which made me curious as to which members had gotten the most attention and might make the cut. Since most of the Japanese contestants have twitter accounts I decided to check how many twitter followers they had gotten due to the show. In order to do this I used the tw48.net website which keeps track the 48-girls' followers.

 

Based on the site, these girls seem to have made the biggest impression on the show:

 

Miyawaki Sakura: 

Her followers have increased by 70k (364k->435k) since PD48 started airing but since AKB's GE was held on the 16th it's difficult to say what portion comes from the show and what comes from the attention the election brought.

Yabuki Nako:

She's gotten 23k followers since she was the star of the third episode on the 29th of June (111k->134k).

As a comparison Miku, who is similarly popular and pulled out of PD48, gained about 4k.

Takeuchi Miyu:

Ever since the show started she's been getting a steady amount of new followers, gaining 11k since the 16th of June (190k->201k). She didn't really gain any followers at all until the show started so it's fair to say all of them came through PD48.

Chiba Erii:

Like Miyu she has gained followers continuously since the show started with a daily peak of 800+ new followers when her solo cam for BBY team 2 was released. She has gained 8k followers since the show started (25k->33k).

Murase Sae:

Gained 6k followers after the fourth episode was aired on the 6th (208k->214k) thanks to her fancam going viral.

Takahashi Juri & Shiroma Miru:

Have both gained about 8000 followers since the show aired (137k->145k for Juri, 479k->487k for Miru).

Has gained about 5000 followers since the show started but like Erii it's a lot compared to her total amount (25k->30k).

Some other members that have gained a few thousand followers since the show started are Muto Tomu, Kojima Mako, Shitao Miu, Bibian, Honda Hitomi etc

 

 

Notes:

* Matsui Jurina gained about 13k since the show started but most of that seems to have come from AKB's general election (which she won) and her subsequent hiatus.

* Yamada Noe doesn't have a twitter account

When talking about Miyu’s growth from the show you really cannot leave out her YouTube.

 

Since the show has started she has obtained close to 50k new subs and more than 2 million new views. Her covers are breaking her personal records for most viewed in 24H and she has released a new one each week with another new one teased to be released before the next episode.

 

She might just transition to YouTuber if she doesn’t make it within the final group !

True, this is just one side of it! But this was easier to do since I could find all of in one place and almost everyone has twitter.

I noticed the increase of followers too, especially for Sakura since I'm her fan. other than the 70,000+ new followers on Twitter, she got even more followers on IG even though she stopped using it (sadly), she probably had an increase of 120k followers on IG in the past month... it's crazy. Not to forget her Youtube channel has 160,000+ subscribers right now, she passed 100,000 not long ago, and before elections it was much less. it's increasing super fast. in Sakura's case it's probably both the impact of elections and PD48 that give her such a big rise in followers everywhere. it's amazing!

I couldn't find a good resource for instagram

Might it not presnt the complete picture since some girls are more active on Instagram rather than Twitter?

 

I'm no expert but it seems like Shitao Miu for example is far more active on IG rather than twitter.

 

Maybe a combined twitter/IG improvement would present the complete picture...
