Mukashi mukashi, Han'ei o kiwameru ikkoku no shiro ni, hitori no shōnen ga orimashita.

Kare no na wa" Retzeru".

Osanaki hi ni kono toki e to yatto kita ringoku no ōji deshita.

Once upon a time, in a city of a prosperous country, lived a boy in a castle.
His name was "Letzel."
He was the prince of a neighbouring country who, at a very young age, had come to this land.

Sabireta bokoku o mamoru tame hitojichi to shite kono kuni e to omomuita ōji wa

Sono fukōna oitachi o nageku koto mo sezu, hitori no shōjo no koto o omotte imashita.

Katte bokoku de tomoni nama o uketa kyōdai.

Dorosseru to iu na no futago no ane no koto o omoeba, kono ji de ima mo nao ukeru, tsurai shiuchi mo tae raremasu.

The prince came here in his own will as a hostage in order to defend his desolated homeland
He did not grieve over his unhappy upbringing, but he was thinking of a girl.
He was the younger brother to an older sister that were born together in their homeland.
When he thinks of his twin sister named Drossell, he can endure the hard treatment he still receives in this land.

Ōji wa ane no koto o aishi imashita.

Osanaki hi ni wakareta kanojo e no omoi wa, itsushika ōji no naka no kyōki o yobi,

Tsurakereba tsurai hodo, kanojo e no ai o fukamete ikimashita.

The prince loved his sister.
The thought of her parting from him when they were just children lead him to madness
But, the harder it was, the more his love for her deepened.
And then he realised that this feeling was far beyond the love he felt for his family.
The prince had an abnormal feeling about his sister.

Shiro no okufukaku, hitoshirezu ōji ga ashi o hakobu himitsu no hanazono ni wa,

Oji ga ane no na o tsuketa bara no hana ga arimasu.

Deep in the palace, in the secret flower garden, where the prince secretly walks
The roses, named after sister by the prince, are right here.
The prince talks about his love for his sister while kissing the rose.

Aa, moshi anata to saikai suru hi ga aru naraba,

Boku wa anata to hitotsu ni naritai.

Amaku torokeru yōna shitai o dakishimete, nandomo nandomo guchi tsukerunda.

Ah, if the day comes that I shall see you again

I want to become one with you

I want to talk about the events that happened while we were separated and I want to make sure to let you know of my love.
Hold your sweet, bewitching body in my arms and kiss it again and again

Yubi o sasu bara no toge sae itoshī hodo, ōji wa ai ni kurutte imashita.

Shizukuri Ochiru akai senketsu o shita de nazorinagara, ōji wa ane no koto o omoi shitai,

Osanaki koro ni ane ni moratta, sono mune ni kagayaku hisui no burōchi ni ai o chikau no deshita.

He was so mad with love that he loved even the thorns of the roses that pricked his fingers.
Tracing with his tongue the dripping red blood, the prince yearned for his sister
And he swore to love the bright jade brooch that his sister had given him when he was a child.
