Your best memory as a child?

When me and my family went camping together for a week in Cornwall (England) or when I went over to Jersey (an island off the coast of England, also my dad's birth place)

Before I lived in the states my grandparent's would always bring me souvenirs whenever they'd visit, one day they came to visit but arrived late in the middle of the night, I woke up really early and everyone was asleep still so I went through their bags to find my souvenir and found the strategy guide for Pokemon Gold and Silver, since I lived abroad and was too young to use the internet this was the first time I had ever seen any new Pokemon since the original 151. Once I confirmed that it was indeed for me I carried that guide everywhere, even though I didn't get the game until a few months later. Had it for many years but it was lost during a move. Ended up tracking down one just like it in high school and it's been a prized posession since.

Honestly almost every single great memory I have as a kid is related to Pokemon.

playing graphic adventure games with my sister and brother, trying to solve all the quests together was so fun. rlytearpls.png

Also doing yoga with my mother on the weekends and watching movies together until very late at night, and if the lights were cut off, she would always tell me horror stories that she invented herself out of the blue, they didn't scare me since the way she related all of those stories were super funny.

  • 2 weeks later...

  • the freedom we had when we were young was incomprehensible to today’s kids whose lives are structured from morning to night. We ate breakfast, did our chores and then the rest of the day was ours. If we wanted to ride our bicycles all the way across town, we could do it as long as we let our mother know where we were going and that we’d be back in time for dinner.

My Aunt used to be a cleaner for an ex-prime minister of Jamaica, and I once went to his garden party in the middle of the English countryside. It was the first time I'd ever climbed a tree, been in an apple orchard, played cricket, slept in a hammock and watched Ghibli films in a garden shed. I don't have a chance to spend time in nature much anymore so it's a memory I'll always cherish.

Also playing Animal Crossing for hours on end lol.
