"On February 7, Park Jin Young will hold a press conference at the headquarters of Sony Music in Tokyo to reveal his ideas and prospects for the Japanese girl group. Afterwards, JYP Entertainment will hold large auditions inside and outside of Japan this summer."

 

I thought JYPE already had Japanese trainees they were working on for years now for this group, the project was already talked about since the SixMix days, and JYP even said in JYP2.0 speech that "this has been something we've been working on for some time now". But this makes it look like they're just going to do a mass audition and then have a survival show to make the group. So... do they have any Japanese trainees of their own for this at all? 

 

I would much prefer this group to be girls who have trained with JYPE for quite some time, not PD101 style where people who basically didn't know each other are thrown together and then a group is made out of them. They won't have the long term JYPE training and flair, as well as established personal relationships going into the group being formed if that is the case.

Here are the bullet points but there is more detail than this.  JYP said in 2.0 speech that they were gonna look to debut late 2019 / early 2020. Well now thats been pushed back considerable. Also it seems like they won't be using their own Japanese trainees, did they lose them? Maybe they will use  them but this really makes it seem like they're just going to audition for everything. Especially since part of the concept here with two different reality shows is to show the Japanese girls' progression during training. JYP said that part of the appeal of Jpop is that fans like to see their idols grow over time, and the kpop appeal is that they are 'perfect', so this is going to combine both aspects in that way.

 

10 audition locations, 8 of them are in Japan, the other two are Hawaii and LA.  JYP says if this is successful they might also do a boy group with Sony too.

 

He says "this project will be a hub, we will hold global audition on a regular basis and aim to construct a scheme to permanently produce high quality idol artists".  Is JYP making JYP44 in the long run!?!?!

 

Theyre gonna find 20 people from the auditions, then narrow them down. Final group size will be determined by JYP depending on what he thinks of the trainees.

 

He wants it to be a global group but start in Japan and have Japan be where they have their main activities.

 

I think JYPE didn't have enough Japanese trainees to make a group and just like with sixmix losing people he may have said "screw it" like with doing sixteen and did this. Maybe they're also saving some Japanese members for the 2020/21 group. But this looks like they scrapped the previous Japanese team and are going for a whole new deal here.  I just wish it were debuting sooner. Nov 2020 is so far away. I was hyped for 2nd half of 2019.

Nizi sounds like 虹 (Niji) = Rainbow. They will have 7 member or 9 or 9+ member?. So they will choose different personality each member like Twice & Izone?

 

I want to know why they held audition in USA & Hawaii? Is it will be FULL JAPAN or NOT?

 

There are a lot of Japanese people in Hawaii and also a lot of Asians in LA. If JYP can get Japanese Americans who speak Japanese and English well then thats a big benefit since they want this group to also have global potential.
