HugeBoi Minos Wife 40,568
These are just the facts and imma tell you why: Starting with Junho: definitely the best idol actor rn. I watched Just Between Lovers and I was shook at how good his acting was. I just had no idea he improved THIS much and became an acting King. His range is so impressive and he's just so natural it's insane. The drama is a masterpiece too yall should go watch it. Fantastic plot with lots of intrigue, emotionally filled characters who show the best development at the end. Stays consistent with perfect ending. One of the best kdrama in 2018. Then IU: I have so much to say but Miss Lee Jieun definitely shut everything down in 2018. She showed exceptional acting in My Mister and Korea called it a "lifetime drama". It joined the line of tvN masterpiece such as Misaeng and Signal and everyone should watch it tbh. I'm tired of corny ass dramas and My Mister was definitely not one of them. It was so realistic, complex and healing at the same time. There were so many valuable lessons to learn and the acting was solid. IU nailed her character and she was good to the point you wouldn't even suspect she's a singer too. People dragged her after Moon lovers but watch this drama and think again, she has improved A LOT and I'm glad she chose this project. It got the critical acclaims and commercial success it deserved and she's now the best female idol actress this year. Queen did THAT. I strongly recommend My Mister (tvN) and Just Between Lovers (JTBC) if you're in need of realistic and healing dramas. Both are masterpiece~

momo 1,775
Junho wasn't in Dream High. Wooyoung was :D Also, yes. He's insanely talented, the way he shows so much emotions through his eyes is beyond me. Definitely one of the best actors in the industry, I mean it. And also, I loved My Mister

Nyai 4,059
I've been following Junho since a few years ago and he is becoming such an amazing actor that choose awesome proyects (didn't watch the one before Greasy Mellow, though). I can't find a fault in his acting. He is one of my favourite actors in his age range (not only idols but all actors). For IU, I didn't watch her last drama either (both of them are too heavy and I'm not in the mood right now) but I've watched the rest and I think she is sometimes great, sometimes too rookie. I think a good director is a must for her and the type of character she plays affects her performance a lot too. I think she has potential and some great scenes but she still has a lot to improve. This, without seeing My mister yet!

This, without seeing My mister yet! You definitely need to watch My Mister I think this will change your mind about her acting a bit. I do agree with the fact that directing plays a big part on how well an actor does but in IU's case, the potential was always there (with some flaws ofc). The problem with Moon Lovers is that the first two episodes were so bad people didn't give it a chance, aside from Lee Junki and Kang Haneul, there was a lot of subpar acting (Hong Jonghyun, Baekhyun, NJH) not just IU. The whole production had to be thrown away tbh but somehow she took all the backlash and antis jumped at her throat. The drama eventually improved later on (starting from ep 3 onwards) but the smear campaign was so successful no one bothered to watch it. IU has had great reviews throughout her acting career (you're the best Lee Soonshin and Producer) but somehow people only use Moon Lovers as a reference. Well the good thing about My Mister is that the acting is great and it stays consistent til the end. It's a bit dark but it has a comforting feeling to it. If you don't feel like crying rn, it's definitely better to watch it later lmao

The rest, I agree with you and I was talking about my own experience with all her proyects . I think she is always better at the end that at the beggining, you almost can see when she identifies as her character from one episode to another (not talking just about Moon lovers but The producers, beautiful man and Soonshin too). Her emotional scenes are always great towards the end (going from that horrible first kiss with Junki to the later scenes was worlds away in terms of acting) but the "casual" scenes are more of a miss, usually. I agree. She takes a few episodes to get into her character and this is what got her lots of criticisms in the past. She also picked up a lot of bad habits in Moon Lovers but I'm glad she fixed it in My Mister. Her acting was really on point from the beginning til the end. Agree. The whole production had to be thrown away tbh but somehow she took all the backlash and antis jumped at her throat. It's a typical case of preconceived notions against idol actors tbh. For example I find Kim Soohyun cringe bad in Love from the Stars especially when he could be compared with the stellar Jun Jihyun, but he got no flak because duh he's an actor he's so handsome kyaaa. LIkewise, the male lead in Lee Soonshin was the show's weakness but somehow I see people blaming IU... In Moon Lovers, y'all think LJK had good acting in the first 2 eps? Growwwwwl I'm wild I'm melo I'm dark! I'm soooo dark! IMO he only felt better because he had no comedy scenes. Only Kang Haneul showed commendable acting, while out of the rest, IU's character is actually the most believable since she's meant to be anachronistic. But anyway when everyone is bad like that the only explanation is a combination of bad production/bad directing/bad script together with period dramas being harder to pull off. I think the acting felt like it got better is because the series gradually shifted to a fully serious tone later on. IU's already shown she acts well, even in comedies like Bel Ami. To me, while she was excellent in My Mister, her role in the Producers might actually be her best one. To date I've seen few kdramas with acting as subtle/realistic and "western" style (rather than the over the top style Koreans seem to prefer), and it's actually through that drama that I became interested in her which got me into kpop.

I think we have very different definitions of "acting good" That drama was super good tho and so was the acting. I don't see how anyone could watch it and think it wasn't. Both him and his co-star played characters that went through a traumatic experience. The emotions, expressions and body language required for that are really HARD to pull off...unless you're an amazing actor... Unlike Just beetwen Lover, Greasy Melo are much more into comedy-romance, the plot arent that heavy. Overall its like particular fun korean drama. I will watch my mister since u reccomended it. And these people were ready to end her which is why they jumped at the opportunity the minute Moon Lovers showed flaws. I agree it was a combination of bad directing from the beginning + the fact people's expectations were quite high since it was pre-produced but ultimately, her antis dragged her and did everything to make her acting controversy blow up. Also Love in the Moonlight was airing at the same time and Park Bogum ahjumma fans got super petty. Basically there were too many people who wished for this drama to fail so they could push their own agenda...which is why she got so much backlash. Even while My Mister was airing her antis did not stop trying to create controversies and fake woke feminists were constantly bashing w/o having watched a single episode. I'm just happy she got so much recognition as an actress and shut the haters up. Queen.
