when your family irritates you into the depths of hell

honestly I'm so sick and tired of my family at the moment.

my mom constantly makes promises she can't keep and she's mad at me for nothing.

edit: i've haven't cried this much in awhile, it's so weird opening up to other people.

At least you have a family.

Be less picky and more appreciative.

and my family puts all of these expectations on me to be perfect and to be successful.

i'm constantly misunderstood in my own goddamn household.

don't tell me to be less picky when I'm under all of this stress because of my family.

don't tell me how to live my life, when you haven't walked a mile in my shoes.

You miss them when they are gone and want them to disappear when they are there.

that's life I guess. I just wish that they would just listen to me instead of ignore me.

It’s not being picky lol.

I have friends whose families suck. They have parents who are abusive, or junkies, or neglectful. You’re pretty sheltered if you think everybody has a bearable family.

Anyways op, if they’re even kind of reasonable tell them what you told us. Make them see your POV.

It's better to have no family than horrible toxic family, trust me

they're not 100% toxic, but it's pretty toxic here.

my family is constantly fighting and I'm always being blamed for my sister's mistakes.

I'm constantly suffering in silence because my depression isn't real to them :/

I've tried. I've tried 100 times. Even my goddamn therapist told my mom and she's always falling into the same pattern of not listening to me. It's like I'm invisible in my own household.

At least it's just your immediate family and you dont have to deal with extended family that you cant even say anything to because you have to "respect" them at all times imstupid.png imstupid.png imstupid.png

how old are you? It might be time to start saving up to move out.

I know a lot of ppl whose relationship with their family got better when they weren’t forced in the same small living space 24/7

I can relate that too. I get a lot of external pressure from my extended family because my older sister went to oxford, one of my cousins went to Stanford, and another is Notre Dame. Problems with growing up in an immigrant family, I guess :/

study hard, get a job and leave if youre ready. its toxic staying there. your mom is only human but you are also one.

if she canT listen to reason, then you have no choice.

I'm not trying to be rude or anything. I just adviced you to see the good part of the things and be positive. Don't focus on the negative things. If your problem is very serious, i don't know, talk to someone close to you.

I hope things get better for you, it sounds really tough chuplz.png

I'll be 17 in like a week. I'm trying too. My older sister's relationship with my dad got better after moving out, but another factor is that she finally grew up and stop acting like a goddamn stubborn baby all the time. My younger sister is constantly making it really shitty to live here anyways :/

Every time something positive happens in my life, it's always followed by a negative. Like right now.

I was having a good week until my mom just has to ruin it for me :/

It’s not just irritating but also insulting when family doesn’t make the effort to understand you regardless of how willing you are to explain things to them.

A true family cares.

Wait until you go to college. Then you will be far from your parents and I guess you'll be more free.

you could also be doing negative things to them you know. again, i mentioned could. sometimes, you cant always know your actions towards others.

im being objective in this, im not jabbing you or anything.

I'm moving out when I finally graduate from HS. It's like my family forgets I have feels because of my sister's depression.

Immigrant parents always think they're right so :/

I'm only negative about myself and only to myself. My younger sister is the one causing most of the negativity with her terrible suicidal jokes and stuff like that. Then I get blamed for her actions.

I feel like most of their attention is on my younger sister.

They care, but not enough
