Does death change how people look at you as a person?

My friend talked about how awesome Anthony Bourdain was for an hour straight and how upset she was but she didn't even know who he was before he died.

Do you feel like someone dying makes you more emotional and sympathetic towards them even though you may have been completely indifferent before? Does death absolve you of any wrong doing you did on Earth since you can't take responsibility for it anymore?

what stays after a person dies is only what they left behind and what people say about them

so yes, you stop being a physical presence that can influence people's perspectives of you day after day, you just become what your predecessors saw of you

Nope. Cause I deal with death on such a regular basis I'm sorta more desensitized towards it especially when it comes to celebrities I don't even know of. Jonghyun's death touched me cause he was someone that I had a lot of emotional attachment to and memories associated with good times. Someone like Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain are essentially everyday people to me.

personally, kind of. if the person did really bad stuff in life i wouldn't feel bad for their death to the point that they'd suddenly be saints & i'd say wonders of them, especially if i dont know them or ever heard of them, however i'd feel strange/scared because one of my biggest fears is death so hearing of people dying just puts some heavy weight on my chest but it's temporary.

on the other hand if the person was nothing but good when they were alive, i'd feel bad for their death and probably the weight on my chest would be heavier. if i didnt know them/heard of them i wouldnt say anything about them because, well, i dont know them. but if i did i'd definitely have things to say, not online but to my sister

It honestly depends. If someone was in the deep end of a shit hole they'll forever be looked down upon as a shit hole. If it's not the deep end of a shit hole and they can truly change their ways genuinely and not just for sympathy or whatever, then I can somewhat change my view of the person

No, in XXXTentacion's case, his fans have always been delusional, which is why they're getting mad at anyone bringing up that he was an actual abusive fucking psychopath.

Anthony Bourdain was loved already by many people, same for Jonghyun, Chris Cornell, David Bowie, Robin Williams or any famous, loved celebs.  The only thing that 'changed' was that people who had not thought about them for quite some time remembered them, and then suddenly the interest in that celebrities' life emerged again.

For me personally, I find it personally a bit disrespectful when someone only shows interest in someone, particularly celebrities, only AFTER they die. Jonghyun's situation was particularly disheartening to me, as people who had never shown any kind of support for Shinee, let alone Jonghyun. They had barley even ACKNOWLEDGED his existence until he died.. then they were all his "biggest fans" suddenly. They started fanpages, wrote sob stories, As if they'd been there. As if they knew who he was when he was still alive. As if they knew how we, his fans, felt. His family, his personal friends.
It happens a lot, of course I understand why people would be intrigued, why they would connect with this artist who is now gone, but.. it's just disrespectful when you act like you were there when you weren't. I don't mean that people can't be sad about the passing of artists they didnt know of when they were alive, of course they can be and no one has any right to take that away from them. But when they act like they were fans then, that they know so much about the situation, it just makes me sick. That can go for any celebrity, especially those who took their own lives [Ex: Kurt Cobain, Anthony Bourdain, etc...]

For other...situations...What always baffles me is how the worst person can die and there will always be a crowd of people saying "What an innocent boy/girl he/she was. He/She was too good for this world, they wouldn't have hurt a fly. A misunderstood soul.. so sad." It's sickening to me. This isn't just about XXXTentacion, there are many people who this can apply to.
