Do you get dizzy/sick when you play video games?

I do and it's annoying.

I wanted to play a game with my brother but couldn't because I started to get dizzy few seconds in and felt like vomitting. And this happens whenever I play specific games. Even when I'm watching people play it on YouTube, I get dizzy. And I'm upset cause I can't properly sit through the whole game and know what's it about. :(

It's motion sickness, there are ways you can avoid getting it, like by standing up, taking breaks, etc.

You should look it up, it's quite common amongst gamers, especially with FPS.

That's weird.. This only happens to me when I spend 10+ hours in front of a game, which I guess has to do with how tired I get. Maybe you should go check a specialist? Are you subject to epilepsy ?

if it happens in first person kinda games is most likely motion sickness, some games are way too zoomed or have crappy motion blur effects that can make you feel that way (vr games have that problem that's why so many people can't even play them) you can try to tweek the settings to a higher resolution or make it smaller and in a window and that may help

There are third person, first person games that have a narrower field of view preset so more people can play it (there's people that cannot handle a broader view with more things going on).

This, however, is detected by your brain that knows something's off and tries to correct it. Of course nothing will change so you start getting dizzy/headaches/etc. Basically you got a good brain.

This is fixed by increasing the field of view. For example Crysis 3 comes with a 0.55 default field of view and it can be modified using in-game console commands. I recommend between 0.65 and 0.75. The old Metro games also came with a decreased FOV and it had to be changed by changing a value in a game file.

Just google the name of the game + FOV and you'll get thousands of results with the solution. Sometimes unofficial patches are required, example Red Faction: Armageddon. And some other times, the game comes with a handy slider in configuration (this should be mandatory imo).

You may try with this if the other recommendations in this thread don't work.
