Report: Janet Jackson To Collaborate With Bruno Mars On New Album

Janet Jackson has millions of fans and one of her most ardent (and notable) admirers is Bruno Mars. 

 

Millions tuned in last month to see the the hitmaker present Jackson with the Billboard Icon Award at the BBMAs  – a show which also brought with it the diva’s first televised performance in almost a decade.

 

Having both expressed ample appreciation for the other, it appears the pair are gearing up to extend their love for one another to the studio.

Citing an insider close to the situation, The Metro wrote:

 

‘The pair have been friends for a while but decided now is the perfect time for them to collaborate after catching up at the Billboard Music Awards. Bruno was raised on Janet’s music and was floored when he found out that she was a fan.

They speak on the phone often and have penciled dates in to record tracks for Janet’s next album.’

 

The report went on to specify that some of the sessions are set to take place in London where Janet resides with her one-year-old son Eissa and where Bruno will be touring this summer.

No dates were specified, but looking at their respective live itineraries, there are pockets of potential dotted around July and August.

 

Interestingly, Jackson’s longtime production duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are also said to be involved – which ought to please Mars the more given how much he’s cited the pair as his primary inspirations.

 

While it’s unknown how much material will be yielded from the sessions, the report claims a single (at the minimum) is one of the goals.

Beyond being a dream collaboration, it makes for a highly organic one – both from a Janet and Bruno perspective, as well as the Jimmy and Terry connection.

 

Whatever the case, Ms. Jackson seems to have a renewed fire since the birth of her son and split from her husband.
