Why do korean actors look down on idols and act all high and mighty

Who are they? Who do they think they r?

Remember those awkward Asia Artist Awards where they mix idols with actors awards

We don't see Hollywood actors acting like that (the actually relevant ones)

Even Oscar winners dont act like that

Sometimes i wish i could speak korean cause i have a lot to say

Can you give specific examples? The only type of hierarchy I've seen displayed between the two groups is NetizenBuzz comments that she cherry picks and like 90% of those should be taken with a grain of salt.

Im on mobile so cant post but i remember them flops pulling faces during Twice performance at Asia artist awards

a lot of ppl look down on idols since many see it as being an overglorified, talentless slave

and i mean i woudln't really disagree because

1. with idol contracts you're basically the company's bitch

2. with the years of training that idols go through u would expect so many of them not to be talentless hacks (this isn't really taking into account how effectively and efficiently the company trains them but that bitch contract they sign basically ensures that they don't get proper training imo so 1 and 2 kinda go hand in hand)

Idina performed Let it go at the Oscars and the reactions were cute and fine :/

I think its because us westerns dont feed their ego like them koreans

i think there's a difference between twice and idina though

frozen was a hit family friendly movie that people of all ages could enjoy + she was actually singing

iirc twice were being professional lippers, i'll give them the family friendly concept but the execution of said concept and performance could be considered distasteful and cringeworthy

and plus the fact that idols are generally looked down upon in korea

you realize that Idina is a renowned Broadway singer/actress, right? She's not just any person who sang a Disney song.

My friend told me that athletes and actors are held on pedestal. They look down on others because the public looks down on those people.

It's messed up but idols are at the bottom in the industry. And actors (especially movie actors) are glorified even more than veteran singers, let alone idols...

Indina is a 45 year acclaimed broadway actress  let it go was nominated

Legend broadway actress or not. She was still singing let it go let it go turn away and slam the door

so with these three quotes we have a renowned broadway singer/actress actually performing, and by that i mean actually singing and not lipping, a nominated song from a highly popular and successful movie. that is VERY different from what twice was doing whether or not both songs were cutesy and shit

Since were talking about success. We could say Cheer Up and TT are like Frozen for Korean music so those korean actors are still flops

but they're still placed near the bottom of the hierarchy so they're seen as inferior that's literally all there is to this

i don't necessarily agree to this but it's hard not to see y idols aren't viewed so highly and prestigiously

their (idols in general) brand image to actors is shit

Actors are seen as more attractive and overall better. Even news anchors are above idols in korea

Several people look down on idols since theres a stereotype of them just getting picked off the street with no previous talent and trained.

The Korean people themselves go along with this standard
