Lying to my grandparents about moving in with my boyfriend...

Okay I want to move in with my boyfriend because we are constantly horny don't get to spend a lot of time with each other and we both want to take the next step in our relationship.

Here's the thing: I live with my grandparents currently and I've been lying about going to see him by saying that i'm going shopping or staying with a friend etc.

Something about introducing him to them makes me so uncomfortable. They always praised me for "not having interest in boys" and not being "sexually active" so the whole thing just kind of gives me this....grossed out feeling because if I tell them this then who knows what type of conversations they'll want to have. Also I don't need anybody else's approval over who I'm dating--he just needs mine and he has it. He passes all the tests.

So I was thinking about saying that i'm gonna move in with one of my close friends they know but actually move into his place.

Problem is...what if they want to see the place? I don't need help moving as I don't have a whole bunch of stuff. So the plan is to do it when I know they're busy.

I should note that I do fucking hate lying and I do plan on introducing him to them...soon, it's just that we've only dated for two months so I know that if I introduce him now they will know about all the lies I've told to go meet him. So the plan is to move in, say I met someone and introduce them. Then at that point if they find out later that I moved in with him it won't matter.

LOL so um...help me.

Is it worth it to ruin your relationship with your grandparents only coz of a guy you know for 2 months?

Its better to not lie, in the end they will find out and its gonna be worse.

Just talk it out, introduce him to them, they are your family, they deserve to know imo

Sis you only dated for 2 months that's where I stopped reading. Iss too soon lol.

Two months? Damn people be moving into relationships so quickly .... well why don;t you be honest and tell them this is the love of your life xD

Yes I know but....I really don't want to sound cliche but he really is my soulmate. I never thought I'd be in love like this.

How old are you? If you are an adult, then I don't know why you would lie about it.

22. Because my grandparents are a bit overbearing. I am an adult but to them I am still like 10 or something.

you're an adult, you don't need to hide anything

do what you want. who cares what they think, it's your life. it's not like you're 15.

also it's better to just be honest now, how long will you keep this up? at least coming clean, you wouldn't need to make 1000 excuses. they can't seriously have a problem with you moving out when you're grown af..

I was in a similiar situation. I moved to another country for my boyfriend and my parents are really overbearing as well. They weren't really happy about my decision, but at the end they got used to it.

Better you are honest, because they may find out that you were lying to them and then they will be even more disappointed.

If you're not serious enough about this to tell your grandparent's about this then you're probably not serious enough to move in with him.

^

Also if you’re lying to your grandparents about dating someone you’re nowhere near mature enough to be moving in...

Well........tbh there are some factors about him I know they won't like. I never want to make it seem like I'm ashamed of him because I'm not but I am truthfully a bit scared as to how they will perceive him.

What about him?

But c’mon, gurl you are twenty fucking two. That’s old enough to drink. Your grandparents need to just go along with whoever you date as long as they don’t have a neck tat or smth crazy like that. If they won’t just ignore them, aren’t you making money for them anyways?

Well, you're an adult so it is your life and your choice. I wouldn't lie, just tell them. If this what you really want, you grandparents should accept it. I think it would be more upsetting to them if you tried to hide it.

That aside, just please be careful. 2 months is really soon to move in with someone.

He's of a different race and he does actually have tattoos lol. Not a neck tattoo but his arms are mostly covered along with some of his back. My grandmother has mentioned that she wouldn't want me to date outside my race--my grandfather doesn't care I think, he'd just be upset that I'm dating in general.

You guys keep on bringing up my age and I understand your perspective but different cultures and upbringings matter here. I would not have lied if I truly didn't think it'd bring some type of issue.

And yeah i do pay rent and they still go in my room and dictate how i should put things, how I should look when I leave the house. It's a lot and it's starting to irritate the shit out of me but I don't say anything because I am thankful for them.

So yes i do feel bad for lying.

I was with the person I perceived to be my "soulmate" for almost 4 years and we ended up breaking up anyway.

My point is; You never know how a relationship will work out in the long run. It doesn't matter how much you both love each other. Sometimes, love is just not enough

Oh yeah I know this. I've watched my parents' marriage deteriorate. I love him a lot and I want to spend the rest of my life with him but heaven forbid something changes, I know I will always find another love.

They’re just old fashioned then lol, tats other than on the neck/face aren’t really that big of a deal since you can easily cover them up for job interviews. What race are you and him btw?

Also, don’t you want to get married or smth? Eventually you’re going to have to deal with their opinions on a guy lol.

It’s time to put your foot down hun. I get more freedom than that and I’m a high schooler lol.

He might actually be the person you spend the rest of your life with. Just make sure you don't rush into things.
