Nikkei Entertainment dubs Suzu Hirose #1 new gen female actress

Nikkei Entertainment's June issue (which is already sold out after the third stock) contains a 50 page spread of all of Suzu's notable achievements so far and dubs her the #1 rising actress and influencer of her generation

While I like Suzu I will always be more of a fan of the extremly talented but overshadowed type of actresses (Nikaido Fumi and Matsuoka Mayu who despite both getting international attention (Fumi years ago already with Himizu, Mayu with Tremble all you want and Shoplifters) aren't really hyped).

Suzu, Arimura Kasumi, Takahata Mitsuki etc. are good too but somehow I prefer the type Fumi and Mayu represent.

Fumi often reminds me of Miyazaki Aoi and Mayu often reminds me of Takeuchi Yuko.

I second your opinion. The 1997-2000 cohorts are immensely talented (although there are few defective ones, but it also exists elsewhere), yet only her and Sugisaki Hana who get enough attention. In fact even worse 90% of all the bests of the acting jobs has gone to Suzu, depriving others of getting them. If only Hana hadn`t hit a jackpot in Her Love Boils Hot Water, she would`ve been well far and away from being an elite.

It's says from her generation. None of the ones you mentioned are from her generation. Suzu is a 98 liner and those are all the previous actors from a generation before her.

You`re missing my point entirely. The top 20 list doesn`t exclusively narrow down to the mentioned generation (1997-2000 liner), most of them are older generations. Heck it even has Ayase Haruka and Naka Riisa who were born in 1980s. And among that generation only Suzu and Hana who have won (or nominated in) major movie awards (not newcomer awards) so far.

I think you posted the wrong list. Sugisaki Hana is clearly shown as no. 8 and this shows this the actresses with biggest increases from the previous year. 

 

Matsuoka Mayu is very good in variety and talk shows.

 

I agree. I haven't seen any of her acting roles yet but I already love her from her variety appearances.
