Yoshihiro Togashi Wants To Finish Hunter x Hunter

The king of hiatus, Yoshihiro Togashi, takes lots of breaks from his manga Hunter x Hunter. But he says he plans to finish it or die in the process. 

 

In a recent Weekly Jump interview, translated by Redditor VeraciousCake, Togashi discussed finishing Hunter x Hunter.

 

“I need to finish writing Hunter x Hunter,†Togashi said (via VeraciousCake). “It has come to a point where either the story concludes first, or I die before that happens (lol). But I do intend to finish it.â€

 

Togashi explained that the story finished once when Gon met Ging, and some readers probably thought that this was supposed to be how it all came together. He agreed that he wrote it that way but actually did not plan to bring it to a close at that point. He hopes that readers can still that the story still has room to grow.

 

But since he’s also a manga reader, he knows the feeling of thinking a manga should have already ended as well as being unhappy when it dragged on. According to Togashi, he never wants to forget that feeling as a manga reader.

 

“But Hunter x Hunter as it is now has a lot in it that makes me want to keep on reading, even from my own perspective as a reader,†he said (via VeraciousCake). “And from my perspective as a writer, there are still many things in it left that I want to write, that I would enjoy writing. And so if anyone would be willing to enjoy this ride with me, that is all I can hope for.â€

I do hope he manage to finish it though the waiting would kill as a reader of the series since he always have super long hiatuses, it worries me a lot though since he is already in his 50s, at this point even if he do manage to finish it he would be in his late 60s - 70s seeing as how the current arc looks like it's going to be a really long one.
