Katie Kim had been travelling between Korea/USA to work on music and finished many songs with a very americanized sound. She also completed several music videos YG Entertainment prepared her debut, but she will debut in a newly created different agency from former YG staff who left earlier this year. YG asked Katie if she wanted to stay with YG or go to the new agency and she stated she would go to the new company as all her staff she formerly worked with are there. Preparing songs and shooting MVs is nothing new, it's what's supposed to happen. Actually debuting and having to invest in proper promos and getting her the right amount of exposure as well constant releases is harder. YG wasn't up for that so he let another agency do it. Based on article, it seems like former YGE staff members left YGE to create their own entertainment company and Katie Kim is leaving YGE to follow them (but bringing the music, mvs, etc. that she's already worked on with her).
