Is YG's method genius?

He's depriving all of you Blinks and casual fans of Blackpink of any new material

You guys will SCREAM and get bald spots on your head when the title of the new comeback song gets released, and that's just for 1 song, imagine if he announces the album title, y'all will lose it even more

Blackpink keep getting popular every single day despite only having 5 songs

YG is a huge dickhead, but this is actually smart in a way.....keep the fans BEGGING for more so when the time comes, the return will SMASH internationally

Minimum investment, little promotion huge profit + YG's brand name and their way of brainwashing the public to think of them as some special snowflake... it's truly genius

The fact that Black Pink is going on a tour despite barely having songs to perform says a lot about the fans... Well, they are the same fans that like to brag that they are popular with only 5 songs as if it's something to be proud of... they can complain all they want but they will buy whatever YG throws at them in the end so why would YG do anything differently, why would they put any effort, why would they actually honor the fans that love their artists so much? meh it is how it is I guess, I just hope they don't face the same fate of other female artists in that dirty ass company.

I agree, the fact that they barely release music and content builds up insane hype and anticipation whenever they do something. Look at the amount of followers and likes they get on insta, it's definitely the main source of content for blinks

when groups have cbs rly often and you can see them everywhere the hype kind of dies and ppl get used to it

I think it may be a move and I know that when BP releases a song, most impatiently blinks will check it out and will break a lot of records. There's this popular Vietnamese singer who didn't release anything for an entire year and his fans were dying for a new song so when he released the song, it had so many views that broke records of TWICE, BP, EXO, etc. (I'm a v-popper so)

However, I don't think that's a good move for the fans because the fans want to hear more of them rather than waiting for them. Though, I guess we'll see how things turn out.

The fact it's a Japanese tour ohpressor.png

YG always ships off his artists to Japan even if they aren't established in Korea (Winner and iKON eventually garnered hit singles tho). May was supposed to be for Blackpink but we know how that is going...

Hopefully when they start this tour, their album will have already come out

The girls are very smart to use social media, it's what keeping people from not losing interest tbh. People love pretty girls. This next comeback WILL make them very popular with international fans.

You see, I used to stan every single artist of YG and back in the days of 2nd gen it wasn't so bad, YG actually promoted their artist decently, what YG is doing now only hurts the artists in the long run, they barely get opportunities outside of CFs and it's truly heartbreaking.

The way they ship their artists to Japan annoys the hell out of me, the fact they put no effort, barely release new material and treat fans like cash cows without actually giving them good content to work with is just absurd and they don't even try to hide the fact that they are milking fans.

It's clear that YG doesn't care about their music department anymore, they are too busy buying PDs and investing in other companies, I just hope fans will wake up and stop suffering, it gets them nowhere, I also hope trainees stop trying to get into that messy company...

His method only works for already established artists like big bang. For newer groups its more harm than benefit because casual fans that have the potential to turn to full on stans tend to leave due to lack of content.

Not sure if this lack of content will translate to higher digital sales of b-sides though.. we shall see for the upcoming bp album.

So blinks should let BP flop and lose income so you guys can make 10 million threads a day about them flopping and how blinks are terrible fans lmfao. This thread is transparently hilarious.

While I can understand how a group having a lot of comebacks and promotions can get “overhyped†or people can lose interest from overexposure, I also think that if the group learns how to make their comeback experience feel new and exciting every time, they can ride the popularity for a long time. I think if YG finds the balance between having the “mysterious†aspects of BP and the quality promotions, they can really skyrocket in popularity this year. They already have the potential

I want them to succeed, they have talent. But how could they ever grow as performers with this little performing experience?

YEARS of tough training and rehearsals, and, 2 years after the debut, they're still rookies preparing for their first small live tour.

But maybe, if they are actually not a regular music band, but, rather, insta celebs, commercial models, and a studio-only band, then this type of marketing is working well.

This. Blackpink don't even have an established fandom in korea yet. They were getting somewhere with PWF and AIIYL but the lack of content and music is a turn off for a lot of people which is why they have to rely on casual fans who stan other groups and the general public for the most part. Despite all that though all 3 of their title tracks did amazing and they outdid themselves digitally every time and I think thats why YG doesn't care or see the harm this can cause

You know what's more ridiculous? People from using their lack of releases as a means to drag them or belittle them. Idiocy is a two way street, sadly.

so obvious this thread is just a preemptive attempt to downplay any success they have with their upcoming comeback

"they only did well because fans were starving!"

I mean sure they could use that downplay their intl accomplishments but korean??? I said this in my previous post but their domestic fandom alone can't do much for them. If they do well on korean charts like they always have been it's cause the general public liked the song point blank
