(G)I-DLE debut song charting well especially for a new group,

none of Loona's 334243 songs charted yet , but i think they will have a good debut in the future 'i really hope for their debut song to chart it'll be really awful if it won't , for the meantime it's (G)I-DLE>>>>>>LOONA in popularity

G idle are doing pretty well for a rookie group it was a good investment for cube. Loona on the other hand, as much as I like them I don't want to think how much profitable they have to be to make up for all their expenses.

Wait didn't one of the g-idle members rank top 20 in p101? so they might've not had much hype by they definitely didn't have none

It really depends which direction bbc decide to take loona and if they prioritise appealing to the kmarket or the intl market

Being top 20 don't mean much of anything.

Before Bboom Bboom. The only produce101 /I.o.I. member to do well on the charts was Chungha.

Nobody expected Soyeon's group to crush it as hard as they did.

Soyeon was in PD101, but was also second runner up in Unpretty Rapstar. So she had quite a bit of following. Cube's decision to make her the center/face of the group was smart.

LOONA will definitely chart. Although as of now, we don't know what style they're going for. If it's something like OOC for the group, I'm sure they will rise.

Being top20 means she at least had some fans/people interested in her, who were more than likely waiting for her debut or at least checked it out. Hence, why I said even though they didn't have much hype they still had a small amount (however small that is)

Cube seems to be managing this group really well so far

yes, because Loona is more establish prior to their debut and GIDLE still has time to have their rookie status fully set in for the country

Bullshit. How are they established when none of their songs even made it to melon? G-idle on the other hand has a lot of hype and are actually doing well on the charts for their debut song.

I honestly don’t know what is the primary aim and prospect for Loona.

Like they are groomed as if they are this “creatively different†group that is musically focused on a lot of unorthodox genres for a large-scale, debuting girl group. This method definitely has borne fruit by building a minor internet following who can freely promote Loona through social media platforms, ala BTS.

But what worries me though is that their primary market is South Korea, not worldwide. A lot of their fans support Loona for the mere fact that they are different, more “experimental†than most k-girl groups (I mean a Grimes feature????). But the Korean public does not care much beyond the usual coffeeshop songs, catchy pop hooks, and smtm hiphop. How would they be able to succeed by experimenting sounds unheard of in K-pop, when they are not even an established group?

I mean, Love Cherry Motion or Girl Front could work but based from their musical trajectory, they are bound to challenge the public’s taste by pushing the barriers.

Well, best of luck to them tho! I love their music and I hope they gain traction throughout the years.

I don't think so. G-Idle is charting really good for a rookie group and there are less members with good visuals that can match Loona's visual members. I read that none of Loona's songs charted. I know it's pre-debut releases but you'd think they'd have a decent fan base by now. They've been introduced since 2016.

(G)-Idle are outliers. They are not the standard for a debut. They did unprecedentedly well for a non-big3 group. Anyone who expects that of Loona has to be trolling lmao

People expecting more from Loona because how much money they already spent for their 12 + 3 album promotion they did and it makes sense, logically they should've accumulated more fandom in that 2 years span than any barely promoted and debut gg.
