it is very enjoyable to watch. side characters are also entertaining too. I binged watched to episode 7.

I don't remember the last time both lead actors of a web drama topping Vlingage chart.

The WOM and response for Moonshine and Valentine is really good.

Just started watching it. It's off to a good start plus just having 25 episodes makes the story more compact. 

 

They actually cut a lot from the novel...

Initially the director only wanted 13-15 episodes because he is a movie director.

But because of the investors we have 24 plus one extra of for fun

They changed a lot actually.

The real story has much darker and sexier vibe. Helan was more cold/hot/arrogant. He became gentle, innocent, understanding and clumsy guy in the drama.  Pipi basically had to deal with more troubles and it was all by herself, unlike in the drama where she has her Xiao Ju sharing and asking for opinions. Xiao Ju didn't meet foxes until  book 2. Pipi is also a lot more headstrong and resists Helan longer too.

 

The drama is much brighter. A lot comedy is added, which imo, helps a lot. A lot supporting characters are changed. 2 Helan's minions are lovers in the novel and they don't always follow Helan like that...  They made Helan more swoon worthy and Pipi is easier to deal with in the drama... 

 

 

So it's not only cutting short the story. I would say they only loosely base on the novel at this point for the romance, everything else is different, including Pipi and Helan's personalities.

Hence I believe the ending will be different too.

Not to mention season 2  would be a total different setup than season 1, which is much wild and crazy in comparison LOL. Drama fans would be shocked. I don't think Leste Chen is interested in that unless the investment is big enough to temp him.

Because no doubt Moonshine and Valentine is unexpected hitting big. Both Vic and Johnny surpassed all the TV drama leads and leading Vlinkage list. The drama also has highest rating in douban among all the current airing dramas. 

 

And yeah, that's why I said they made Pipi is much easier to deal with and making her falling in love with Helan much easier too... And all the sudden Helan is so cute in the drama LOL. I guess that's why people loving it because they can't stop swooning over him.

 

I feel a bit offended for Pipi ... when reading people saying she is a doormat and has no personality on twitter. I'm like you have no idea... especially in season 2 and 3....

They made all supporting characters fun, interesting and have their own stories... so even if you aren't even interested in the romance, the drama can still keep you entertained. I laughed so hard in ep 14. Vic sacrificed a lot for this role

Yeah, i had heard of Douban before but not that familiarize with it Beside, i dont care much abt the rating as long as the drama got what it's should have, the plot, the acting and the casts.

 

Now, i really curious abt this drama but I'll probably start watching the drama once it ended (and completely subbed) as I don't like waiting for the next ep, the wait is a torture

I just binge watched all of the episodes lol and I'm loving it so far! It's such a nice, light watch. Had no idea that they changed so much of the original story from the novels, but I'm glad they did. Tired of those super arrogant, cold male leads tbh.

Having watching up to ep 16 and seeing the previews up to ep 20... I feel like they will change that ending and make Pipi the doormat until the end, which I'm going to be so bitter.

They created a love line for Zhao Song and make him better person.... pairing him with Qian Hua will definitely change the ending in book 1 

 

Because we know in reality, 

 she is the one that save Helan and break her own curse. She isn't a weak doormat waiting for people to save her like most dramas fans think

Both Book 1 and 2 are open ending for the next parts.

If they keep Pipi the same Helan won't be as swoonie as he is right now in the drama.. LOL. They sacrificed her character to make the hero look good. Douban is like IMBD with a lot of discussion, reviews and comments.

It's used to measure how good a drama, movie, book in China and it's quite... accurate except that domestics products are judged much harder than oversea's for many reasons.

For example TMOPB was only 6.2 and Princess Agent was 4.9, King's woman is 4.4 But Korean dramas like My mister is 9.4 and Secret Forest is 9.2   

It's important for productions in China though because they use it as a measurement of what quality the drama/movie/book etc has

This is Chinese dramas.They really romanticize rape/rapers... , even in many novels I read... 

And there is rumor we will have happy ending for the main couple - Look at their wedding!

But in the novel, QH will take Helan away... I feel like they will give her "her own happy ending" in the drama... Even in the drama last week, she said she understand him the most because she was in the same position with Helan in previous episode....

I don't know but I feel they will go there.
