According to their clues, the comeback concept most likely would be something similar to lotto, is definitely something relate to shooting, and they been bad boy, I just hope the mv director don't go too overboard with it like lotto mv, they looked super hot but that cockfight was too much, and they better included dance shoots, I can't forgive power director or whoever idea was to leave out the dance when is so good and gave the song more life.

Suho confirmed is this year so I wonder about the date sm literally don't care if the releases of their groups are just a week apart, sm other groups comeback is 23 nov, and 30 nov ( both on wednesday, I wonder if have something to do with mnet boyycoot, is just an odd date and they did the same to EXO), so the date could be any day in december lol probably a wednesday so 7,14 or 21 most likely the 14.

I think SM will start teasing the reoack by mid December and it wikk get released around the 3rd week?

Kinda odd. Because...like. Thats christmas and holiday time with christmas and holiday songs topping the charts. .. So yeah.. Kinda poor planning to release a song possibly about guns lol .

I think there is definitely going to be choreo...and the mv was filmed very quickly though.. 3 days!?

But since its shot in a school.. It cant be cgi like power so..dw!

probably a photobook I think chanyeol said something about a photobook and baekhyun said the reality was already done in 3 days, get ready for oksusu 10 minutes episodes lol, and if they release the photobook I wish they included a dvd but since sm is greedy we will get the dvd in 2020 like the happiness one that came two years after they shoot it, sm is surreal I can't believe they even treat that as a movie and show it at their theater in 2017 after it was shoot in 2015 and even show some clips in the love concert

You are right. I am also guessing its going to be for a photobook and DVD release.

SM... really sells EXO as their products huh.. i mean.. we been knew but i am getting so sick of it.

Chris Lee (Music Industry & Culture) — Since joining SM Entertainment’s A&R department in 2005, Chris Lee has played a visionary role in the evolution of Asia’s leading entertainment agency. He made a name for himself by developing SM’s peerless production system, which involves a global network of more than 900 hit songwriters (from legends like Teddy Riley to pop sensations like Bruno Mars). Lee’s efforts introduced the songcamp model to K-pop, setting a new precedent for the Asian music industry as a whole. Lee takes a similarly hands-on approach to nearly every facet of SM’s prodigious output, and fostering top global acts like EXO, Super Junior, Red Velvet, and NCT. As a member of SM Entertainment Group’s board of directors, Lee is actively involved in formulating fresh corporate development strategies and directions.

He is going to give some talk in March 2019

Oof so he is the one responsible for the shitty promo strategy?? hmm

Apparently SM entertainment have relaunched and are hiring for their USA office

Speaking of which, I found something interesting for you all to read!

SM’s global strategy of outsourcing has nonetheless evolved through trial and error, with a stiff learning curve that was elevated by the Korean ethos of speeding up the process by skipping some of the essential learning stages. By hook or by crook, SM was eventually able to expand their international business network, thanks in large part to the Swedish music producer Pelle Lidell, who runs a music camp for the European and North American popular music industry. SM first connected with Lidell at the global music conference MIDEM, through an Australian music entrepreneur named Hayden Bell, who wrote “I Spy†for SM’s leading singer BoA.

According to Chris Lee, Lidell helped SM establish the music camp Fantasia (Fantastic Asia), which spawned several songs for SM: Fantasia Camp continued for four days and three nights without rest. Lidell invited SM representatives and 21 composers and musicians to create 21 different songs exclusively for SM. As the producer, Lidell covered all the costs. Each team included one track writer [for percussion, instrumental, and recording], one top-line writer [for melody], and one lyricist. On the first night, each of the seven teams wrote one song, and then on the next night they switched around the teams and did it all over again. So by the end of the third night, SM had 21 new songs. It was simply amazing to witness the entire process of producing one song per night, which had been unimaginable in Korea.

SM is now boastful of their strategic partnership with Lidell, who has allowed them to complete their outsourcing network. However, simply globalizing or outsourcing music composition does not always guarantee success on the global scale, as JYP and YG have learned all too well. Japanese J-pop managers have thus far avoided outsourcing composition to global sources, since their domestic music market is huge enough to support an internal music production system. Therefore, the internal processes of finishing, mastering, and assembling a song are just as important as the outsourcing. Chris Lee carefully explained how Lee Soo-man controls the entire process of finishing:

For example, take the song “Twinkle,†the first song by TaeTiSeo (TTS), which came out in early 2012. . . . In that song, Lee Soo-man told me to change the lyric “easily visible†to “instantly visible.†He definitely wants to be involved in every little detail, including the lyrics, the instruments, the title, the melody, everything. He literally produces the whole song. His process is not the norm in our business, because he’s not happy to just outsource the music to some composers and then record the songs with the artists. For him, producing involves a meticulous step-by-step process of refining, changing, and finishing the song. Sometimes the end result is completely different from the original music score.

The secret of SM’s success, therefore, derives from this internal process of modifying the original creative work to make it more viral to the actual listeners, whoever and wherever they may be. This is not the same as merely copying universal trends in global popular music. Instead, SM acquires samples of universal musical content from Europe and the United States and then modifies them into a unique SM composition that is not yet globally universal, but has the potential to become the next global norm.

However, the internal modification process (or localization) requires a set of creative skills (i.e., tacit knowledge) that no one else at SM seems to have mastered yet, except for Lee Soo-man. Chris Lee considers this to be a serious problem:

For example, Yu Yeong-jin, Lee Soo-man’s composer, had to train for three years before he could learn how to satisfy Lee’s eyes and ears. The mass manufacturing of creativity presents a big problem. At SM, there’s only one person who can manage and coordinate music videos, costumes, television broadcasting, and everything else. Therefore, we need a second Lee Soo-man. Right now, we’re systematizing this process. Lee is actually having us write a manual for producing music. So now every department at SM has a manual that includes Lee’s production knowhow, CT (cultural technology), and creativity. The manuals let us bypass Lee in our tasks, so we’re no longer totally reliant on him. But he still often intervenes in the process. Hopefully, these teams represent the foundation of the mass manufacturing [of creativity]. We need geniuses, but we also need apprentices. Lee Soo-man is developing the apprentice system here.

This whole CB period is so weird. The boys started talking about the repack during the freaking Tempo 'promos'. Now it's been like 2 weeks since they ended and they haven't talked about the repack since then. They announced damn Vivace for pete's sake. What is truly going on. unimpressed.png

Is that guy also the one to blame for this whack ass scheduling? wthplz.png

Also, is it possible to get the TL;DR version of that essay 0u0plz.png

i have no idea at all what is happening but yes its all Chris Lee and his team at fault watch me attend his conference to egg him out of his senses :dave:

What exactly are they shooting in Hawaii for, a kokobop sequel?

Also unrelated, the other days I looked into the credits for their albums from kkb era onwards (ex'actsus isn't with me rn rip) and it's been the same crew of 5 handling their public relations and publicity for the past 2 years or even more 0u0plz.png I don't own other SM artist albums to compare, but if this team works mainly with only exo and not others for all these years, and yet their PR effort is still a hot mess sometimes then maybe they need some new blood. Even other teams that work closer to exo on a daily basis like artist mamagement & promotion (that includes their manager) have manpower change, these people need more hands on deck.

I think they are shooting for another photobook like Dear happiness.

Obviously SM wants maximum profit out of EXO before anyone enlists RIP

This money hog of a company is outdated in its schemes. And their song writing camps are backfiring at them. Because like stated in the above article, almost all their music is produced by musicians over the world attending the camps and pulling out 5 songs per day (A FACTORY) but is then retouched by creative directors in SM themselves to make them suitable for korean taste and innovative enough .....but they have only Lee Soo Man and Yoo Young Jin who are good enough to do that.

Their PR team is an absolute mess. They are f*ckin up their own fan market by not giving them content with delving too deep into their strategy of marketing their idols as untouchable gods such that there is no direct interaction bw them and fans.

New Kpop fans get bored easily and have tol many options to choose from nowadays. SM is relying too much on our loyalty.

Also..they NEED TO INVEST MORE MONEY INTO THEIR IDOLS. Look at the amount of BUDGET that goes into YG's MVs... And the amount of innovation that goea into teasing the other big artists in the market.

They NEED to do something like Pathcode 2.0 level..(they will never do it for exo because they hate them anyways lol) for whichever group they want success. It's high time.

I will say it a 100 times more.. They are being left behind... Somebody wake them up before its even more late.

wait noooohhhhhhh not January

but to think about it... they released Tempo logo in October 1st and comeback was a month later, so if the pattern is the same, we should get preorder info next week and Repack release is really January 5th....

But it means no Christmass release... maybe they will spare us at least a single like in 2014 :(

Lets see what it means

Omg I just realised its exactly 1 month since Tempo got released klajsl

LSM has kept such complete control on everything that now things are falling apart in his absence. He failed to groom a worthy successor and now its affecting the system he so diligently created over the decades.

yep. I think that explains a lot of things.

sm keep wasting opportunities to see if they can gain more profit but this could fail in the end.[/size]

IT IS Failing. They are falling behind the other companies. At this point they are going to become a merchandising corporation rather than an entertainment house.

I just saw it, just after I wrote my essay on how sm is doing the least investment on everything, the irony, I can't said I'm surprise, but this is just beyond low effort, it seems they spend all the money on making logos and making merch

A white background twitch.gif and the basic font rlytearpls.pngrlytearpls.png , and I complained about power let's hope this time the budget when to the mv, but I know I will be let down rlytearpls.png , sm is rushing everything for everyone I saw ntc fans complaining as well about their album packaging.

edit: After seeing some reactions on twitter I wonder about the sales, on top that is super soon and close to their main comeback the packaging is extra basic, fans being upset at sm, I don't know, sm just sucks, what even bother if they are going to be half hassed, most fans will happily buy everything but I don't expect amazing numbers.

TBH SM treats Repacks even worse than Main comebacks idk why we expected anything better or more high budgeted.

Havent we always got Polarising repack titles like Lotto and Power? But atleast the packaging and teasers of TPOM WERE so nice.

THIS IS JUST... UGLY.

Also WOW what is this now? Another cash grab

Ok enough of this breakdown tbh lets wait for more teasers and hope for the best. SM dont do fuckery with us

And thank you God for another EXO Comeback atleast we will get good music regardless.

On the bright side... Atleast we dont have to painfully speculate about an ot8/ot9 cb this time :))

It’s taken from this cover of the Beatles, it’s intentionally minimalistic.

https://goo.gl/images/QQSk72

You shouldn’t be asking where the budget is. You should be asking why SM ripped off a poster from the most famous boy band in the world and copy and pasted it onto EXO.

Damn the Beatles had some lazy album packaging too fsjsbs
