I was really in the mood for a good rom-com after getting burned badly by The Undateables, and Thirty But Seventeen really delivered.

I have so many thoughts after watching the first two episodes.

  • It's such a funny drama and thankfully, the writer knows how to make good use of the coma plot device.
  • Shin Hye Sun looks so good with long hair. I'm so happy she has a role that doesn't require her to cut her hair.
  • Deok Gu is such an adorable and well-trained dog. The moment when Deok Gu snuggled into Seo Ri's arms is absolutely adorable.
  • Omg sfdsfdslfjsl I knew the screenwriter of She Was Pretty was writing this drama, but did not know that the PD of I Can Hear Your Voice was directing. This is a total dream team. I am going to feel disappointed if I end up hating this drama because I love the cast, PD and screenwriter.
  • This drama is very promising, and I hope it turns out well.

  • Thirty But Seventeen: Episodes 1-2

Still17E02-00256-copy.jpg

Thirty But Seventeen pairs a modern-day Sleeping Beauty with a not-so-handsome prince — in fact he’s downright scary, for now. A series of misunderstandings, both past and present, are at the heart of the story, underpinning how easily life can take a detour. Filled with unique and eccentric characters, Thirty But Seventeen follows the recently awakened heroine as she navigates a whole new world.

EPISODE 1: “La campanella, the little bell.â€

Still17E01-00044-copy.jpg Still17E01-00052-copy.jpg

A teenager begins a sketch and explains to his young nephew that the subject is a girl who’s piqued his curiosity. A montage of scenes reveals that the boy, GONG WOO-JIN (Yoon Chan-young), perks up whenever this girl crosses his path, and he adds that he plans to use the painting to ask her to be friends.

The girl in the sketch is a talented violinist and an audition reveals that her name is WOO SEO-RI (Park Si-eun). Woo-jin later sees the name tag on her gym clothes, unaware that they actually belong to her friend, and thinks that Seo-ri’s name is NO SOO-MI. As he completes his painting of Seo-ri, Woo-jin narrates that this small mistake deeply affected both of their lives.

Still17E01-00075-copy.jpg

Years later, Woo-jin (Yang Se-jong) has grown into a man and sits on a beach where he stares at his painting. He looks at the moon through his fingers, just as Seo-ri used to do, and when a bell rings, he turns around with a smile.

Young Seo-ri skips up some sidewalk steps, a moon-shaped charm with a bell swinging from her backpack. She happily studies her music along the way and just misses running into a barricade, saved at the last minute by her friend, Soo-mi.

=======

EPISODE 2: “Where are my uncle and aunt?†

A Skype call wakes up Woo-jin in his camper and when he looks at his laptop, his boss, HEE-SOO, jumps in fright and announces that he looks like Bigfoot. She scolds him for his long break from work and warns him to return to his job by July and hangs up.

Woo-jin’s computer alerts him to another call and he assumes that it’s Hee-soo but it’s actually his sister, HYUN-JUNG, who also calls him Bigfoot. She’s a doctor and informs her brother that she and her husband have been assigned to Africa for the next year and a half.

Still17E02-00041-copy.jpg Still17E02-00040-copy.jpg

Woo-jin is nonplussed until he remembers something and asks, “What about Chan?†That’s the reason for Hyun-jung’s call: Chan needs to stay with Woo-jin and she orders him to return home right away.

When Hyun-jung explains that she hired someone to take care of the two of them, Woo-jin protests but she cautions, “Then you wake up Chan and send him to school every day. Feed him nutritionally balanced meals. Hand-wash his uniforms and gym clothes. You can look after a high school senior.â€

Hyun-jung reminds her brother that he lives in their parents’ house so Woo-jin agrees to live with his nephew and before he can say anything about the maid, Hyun-jung hangs up. Woo-jin’s gaze falls on the cute stickers on his painting’s container and he smiles and admits, “I do miss you though, Chan.â€

COMMENTS

Can it be? Is it possible that after what I have found to be a string of disappointing romantic dramas, there is one that will finally go the distance? I’m crossing my fingers because this first hour of Thirty But Seventeen gives me hope. Writer Jo Sung-hee is responsible for one of my all-time favorite dramas, King of High School, and PD Jo Soo-won produced another favorite, Pinocchio. I recognized elements from both dramas in this first episode of Thirty But Seventeen and I can’t wait to see how this drama will be different.

Just like PinocchioThirty But Seventeen took us from the carefree youth of the main characters to unspeakable tragedy in a matter of seconds. But like King of High School, we have a collection of eccentric characters who promise the craziest of encounters. I expect lots of laughs, as well as tears, as Seo-ri and Woo-jin, who were both frozen by what happened when they were seventeen, find the strength to leave their pasts behind to make the most of their lives.

They both have much to overcome, but they also have in each other someone who can understand their unique predicament. Along the way we’ll find out more about Seo-ri’s MIA aunt and uncle and the redevelopment that was just in talking stages at the time of the accident. Could the two situations be connected? I think they are.

Still17E02-00382-copy.jpg

Interestingly, Woo-jin became the one thing that terrified him as a teenager, a bona fide weirdo. Anyone who is consistently labeled as Bigfoot is well entrenched in weirdo territory and it’s going to take more than a haircut and a shave to escape. I wonder if there’s going to be a romantic triangle to deal with here. Seo-ri and Woo-jin are the same age chronologically, but mentally, she’s closer in age to his nephew, Chan, portrayed to perfection by Ahn Hyo-seop. What a lovable doofus.

What I especially liked about these episodes was how well the serious elements were balanced by the hilarity. That was an incredibly choreographed accident that caused two promising lives to be derailed for the next thirteen years. What’s going to happen once Seo-ri learns not only that her best friend died that day, but that her musical aspirations ended before they could begin? She was completely immersed in her music and now? Her college acceptance and all those years to study and perform are gone. She’ll have to figure out what to do now that she’s grown up.

In one of the funniest first meet-ups I’ve ever seen, “Who are you?†was the question on virtually everyone’s lips, including the chick and the little dog, Deok-gu. Ha! It’s going to take quite a bit of work to untangle everyone to get things straight, and I know that there’s bound to be angst along the way, but Thirty But Seventeen looks as if it’s going to be memorable for all of the right reasons.

Article: Naver 'Thirty but Seventeen' Yang Se Jong â™¥ Shin Hye Sun, 'saved' her from danger "Don't go"

  • Woo Seo Ri (Shin Hye Sun) went to a violin academy for an interview, but failed to make the cut.
  • She tells Yoo Chan (Ahn Hyo Seop) that she couldn't practice her violin because she met an accident and fell into a coma.
  • Woo Seo Ri spots her uncle across the road, she gets out of the car screaming for him in the middle of the road. Gong Woo Jin (Yang Se Jong) held her hand, and tells her, "Don't go."

1. [+810,-27]
Shin Hye Sun's acting matches well with the character. ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

2. [+565,-26]
Shin Hye Sun's biggest strength is that her characters never overlaps with her next piece. I can't find her weakness... She's good at analyzing her characters!

3. [+267,-11]
Ah, Se Jong-ah ã… ã…  How heart fluttering ã… ã…

4. [+250,-24]
It's interesting, but I hope the story speeds up a bit, scriptwriter.

5. [+197,-12]
Shin Hye Sun really looks 17. ã… ã… ã… ã… ã… ã…  Se Jong's voice did everything. Really good.

6. [+66,-3]
Yang Se Jong's gaze is no joke ever since Temperature of Love.

7. [+48,-7]
From Seo Ji An in My Golden Life in the beginning of the year, to Woo Seo Ri. Shin Hye Sun shows her new side of acting every time.

Article: Naver 'Thirty but Seventeen' Shin Hye Sun envies Ahn Hyo Seop who has calluses

1. [+149,-1]
Seo Ri - Deokkgu - Woo Jin. The real triangle love in the drama. Scriptwriter, please don't kill deokkgu in the drama, I'm watching this because of deokkgu. ♡

2. [+75,-8]
The most interesting drama that's airing recently.

3. [+37,-3]
Shin Hye Sun really looks like 17. Not sure how 17 year olds are like, but in the past, it was totally like that.

4. [+34,-5]
Shin Hye Sun is too lovely ã…‹ã…‹

5. [+31,-4]
To be honest, the nephew's friends, aren't they making people uncomfortable? Going into others house and making so much noise..ã… ã… ã…  I sighed watching them.

6. [+14,-0]
Seo Ri is so pitiful today. ㅠㅠㅠㅜㅜㅜㅜ  She's 17 in her heart, she still hasn't accepted that she's 30 yet. But everyone thinks she's 30. ㅜㅜㅜㅜ This is cruel!!!!

7. [+11,-1]
Shin Hye Sun is really great. Her image changes in every role she takes on. It feels totally different from her last drama. In Oh My Ghost, her acting was good too. And after that, she portrayed all of her other characters well too. She's incredible.

[Thirty but Seventeen] Eps 7 & 8 Yang Se Jong opens up his heart to Shin Hye Sun

Article: Naver 'Thirty but Seventeen' Shin Hye Sun blames Yang Se Jong, "It's all because of ahjussi."

  • Woo Seo Ri (Shin Hye Sun) blames Gong Woo Jin (Yang Se Jong) for holding onto her.
  • He moves out after that. Seo Ri decides to move out because he's not going home.
  • She wanted to apologize and tell him that, but ended up screaming at him after trying to help him.

1. [+499,-6]

Deokkgu's acting is good.

2. [+237,-7]

Wow, seriously. Pick up the pace.

3. [+170,-15]

Interesting, but frustrating too. Woo Jin was not a child, but it was his third year in high school when he had his first love, why didn't he recognize her? When he was in high school with his friends, he could also spot her from far.

4. [+113,-3]

Please value your labour. (t/n: Jennifer's lines in this episode.) ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

5. [+125,-48]

The scriptwriter can't write. The main plot is good, but the show is boring.

6. [+40,-4]

Yang Se Jong's voice is really good.

7. [+35,-5]

Seriously, even if you say she's 17, her mindset is too childish. When she wants to do something, she screams and cries. Completely ignoring the fact that those people provided her with food and a shelter over her head. She lives her life well without being careful at all. ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ Even if I live with my relative, I would eat carefully too.

8. [+52,-26]

Am I the only one who thinks Shin Hye Sun's acting is exaggerated at times..?

1. [+276,-12]

There are people saying that Shin Hye Sun's acting is exaggerating, but I think it's natural and comical, which makes it interesting to watch!!

2. [+119,-2]

My heart flutters watching Yang Se Jong smile.. ã…Žã…Ž

3. [+119,-4]

I thought Shin Hye Sun's acting was good? It's not over the top, but kids these days are more mature, that's why. People who are in their 30s act like that when they were 17. Pure and innocent, is that not it? Uncorrupted, not knowing how the world works as a 17 year old, I think her acting is good.

4. [+80,-0]

I think that all of the actors did well in acting. Not all high school students are pure, but the main lead is supposed to be pure in this drama, so just let this one off.. I was enjoying the drama, but everyone kept saying it's too much, it made my heart ache.

5. [+18,-1]

I liked that this drama is calming and warm.

6. [+10,-0]

I hope next week comes quickly, and Woo Jin finds out that girl is Seo Ri!!!!!!

7. [+19,-0]

Shin Hye Sun did well acting as a 17 year old. Jjang.

8. [+8,-0]

What's with their chemistry.. it's so heart fluttering.

Thirty But Seventeen: Episodes 7-8

Just when it seemed like nothing could upset our plucky heroine, a setback in the search for her uncle turns her against Woo-jin. Surprisingly, it’s not Woo-jin’s cold exterior that brings this on, but rather a crack in the ice that shows that he is a caring person after all. When Woo-jin doubles down on his aloofness, it’s those memories, both good and painful, that they’ll need to lure him back.

EPISODE 7: “Is that the truth?â€

30but17_E0708_00023.jpg 30but17_E0708_00020.jpg

Seo-ri darts into a busy crosswalk when she spots her uncle, and a panicked Woo-jin catches up and stops her in the middle of the intersection. Seo-ri is determined to keep going and breaks free of his hold as soon as the crosswalk light turns green again. The delay is long enough to lose sight of her uncle though, and Seo-ri turns on Woo-jin to blame.

She yells at him for interfering in her affairs, a person who doesn’t even care about her, and laments the loss of her uncle, her house, and her violin. The blame just recalls for Woo-jin the guilt he feels for the accident thirteen years ago, so he asks her, “What if you died because of me?â€

30but17_E0708_00040.jpg 30but17_E0708_00039.jpg

In the end, Seo-ri remains to look for her uncle and Woo-jin heads in to work after dropping off Deok-gu. His thoughts remain on Seo-ri’s words though and they keep him distracted enough to completely zone out during his work meeting.

He even attempts to put on Hee-soo’s pink blazer at the end because he’s so distracted, earning him some teasing from her. Hee-soo can’t help but wonder if something is going on, since Woo-jin is acting stranger than usual.

COMMENTS

Alright Miss Yellow Shoes, reveal yourself already! Conflicts so far have been mostly contained to the house and individuals. Woo-jin and Seo-ri had their first interpersonal conflict, but the show has been holding back throwing others into the mix until things settled in the house. Now that Woo-jin is coming around to Seo-ri’s presence, it’s time to set up some shake-up with ghosts from the past. So the real question is, whose past does Miss Yellow Shoes haunt, Woo-jin’s or Seo-ri’s?

These episodes primed us for not one, not two, but three upcoming mysteries. Miss Yellow Shoes is the most obvious, but they’ve given way too much time to the missed email exchanges from the musical’s jazz team for that to not be somehow significant. And the final shadow waiting in the wings is Dr. Yoo. I suspect he was a psychologist that Woo-jin worked with after the accident, and I’m wondering if he’s going to have some pieces of the past that help Woo-jin realize who Seo-ri really is.

Chan just wants his uncle to find himself again, the version before the accident. And what he remembers is his uncle’s warm smile, the smile he sees in the photo of the two of them when they’re young. He tries to force one out of Woo-jin in the kitchen, but it’s Seo-ri who earns the first genuine big smile out of him in the end. Woo-jin may not yet know that she’s the girl he admired from afar, but her energy still reaches out to him and manages to cut through all the ice he’s built up around his heart these last thirteen years.

30but17_E0708_00216.jpg

For Woo-jin, getting involved means letting others down. Seo-ri’s misplaced blame reinforced that barrier for him, when he finally let some of those emotions slip. But with Seo-ri’s desire to do right by people and Chan’s efforts to get his uncle to smile again, there was no way that Woo-jin was going to be able to hold out against them for long. Now that he’s finally interested in figuring out what happened to Seo-ri and her relatives, I’m super excited for all the tension that can be built until he finally figures it out.

I really like Seo-ri so far. I could see criticism that she’s too good and pure, but I like that it feels right with the idea that she is still a young person in an adult body. That energy will be a beacon for Woo-jin after all this time apart.

Is anyone else surprised that Seo-ri hasn’t been taken for a makeover yet? She’s been wearing the same clothes for two weeks now. I bet it makes it easy for Shin Hye-sun, and everything looks super comfy. I guess there really isn’t anyone with the ability or desire yet to take her out for that new wardrobe montage. Her childhood friend has been very absent lately, but I’m hoping we’ll see him again soon.

  • Team Dramabeans: What we’re watching????

www_thirty2.jpg

So, what are we all watching this week?

What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

girlfriday

  • Thirty But Seventeen: The uncle-nephew relationship in this is so precious. The otherwise cold hero is so uncharacteristically affectionate and loving when it comes to his nephew, and the sweet, dumb jock nephew is such an endearing, positive force in everyone’s lives. The plot is really threadbare, but I love all of the little interactions between the ragtag residents of this house, and it’s not the romance that’s got me—it’s the family that I want Seo-ri to have.

====

After the first 4 episodes, I’m really loving it! The main leads’ acting is on point, especially SHS. I like that GWJ is slowly opening up, even if it’s just a little bit, with WSR in his life. Shoutout to him for not trying to hurt her feelings. Chan is really a sweetheart and I hope he doesn’t fall for WSR but instead, just sees her as a noona/ajumma.

So far, their friendship is my favorite part of this show and I want to see more of WSR learning about the things she missed in those 13 years from him. As for Jennifer, I still very much like her and I haven’t seen Suspicious Housekepper so I don’t really know. Currently, she’s still only a comic relief in my eyes so DEPTH! I also do pray that KTR doesn’t turn into a generic, jealous second female lead because I think that would just waste the potential her character has. I’m not here for the whole “I still think she’s a rival after 13 years, even if she hasn’t touched a violin since she was 17â€. She could be a great mentor to WSR and help her get back her skills (and they would make an awesome sis-romance). DEPTH DEPTH DEPTH!

[Thirty but Seventeen] Eps 9 & 10 Shin Hye Sun's moon rabbit scene only triggered Yang Se Jong's PTSD

Posted on Monday, August 6, 2018

Article: Naver 'Thirty but Seventeen' Shin Hye Sun to Yang Se Jong, "No matter how much I see, you seem like a good person."

  • Gong Woo Jin (Yang Se Jong) sees Woo Seo Ri (Shin Hye Sun)'s moon rabbit scene again. He is reminded of his trauma.

1. [+559,-10]
These days, I like little dramas (not like those big scale dramas with intense plot) like these.

2. [+273,-12]
Hye Sun-ssi is like Seo Ri when she was 17. I no longer see Se Jong-ssi as his character is Temperature of Love now, just Woo Jin himself. ã… ã… ã… ã… ã…  Yoo Chan too, is kind and bright, like a high school student. The mood of the drama is good and adorable. ã…Žã…Žã…Ž

3. [+178,-6]
Yang Se Jong is handsome.

4. [+107,-1]
When is she going to meet the doctor!!!!!!!!!!!! The doctor who sees the pair of slippers and thought of Seo Ri, when will they meet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I felt so bad for Hyung Tae ㅠㅠㅜㅠㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜ

5. [+114,-13]
Shin Hye Sun is really good in acting and pretty.

6. [+45,-2]
This is seriously interesting. ã… ã… ã… ã…

7. [+30,-1]
The male lead's acting is really daebak.. the last scene was so sad..

8. [+35,-8]
For how many episodes will this frustrating storyline go on? Please make the story move on...

9. [+21,-0]
What is Jennifer's real identity?

Today was so interesting. If only tomorrow comes quickly...!

2. [+324,-7]
There's no evil characters, it's warm and fun to watch!!!!

3. [+250,-8]
Look at Se Jong crying at the end... His voice is good too. Woo Jin was about to cry, I want to make him smile so much. ã… ã… ã… ã… ã…

4. [+170,-2]
Seo Ri is Woo Jin's first love, but Woo Jin is Seo Ri's first love too. ã… ã… ã…  And in between all of that, Yoo Chan's first love begins too.

5. [+197,-74]
A triangle love with his cousin is strange.

6. [+64,-0]
The teenager who played his role in the past looks really similar to Yang Se Jong.

7. [+39,-0]
In the middle of all over the top dramas, dramas that are honest and kind like this is really good. ♡

Seo Ri didn't die because of him, please know of this fact quickly, and don't be guilty anymore. ã… ã…

  • [Thirty but Seventeen] Eps 11 & 12 Yang Se Jong wipes away Shin Hye Sun's tears

Article: Naver 'Thirty but Seventeen' Yang Se Jong wipes away Shin Hye Sun's tears, Ahn Hyo Seop confirms his own feelings

  • Woo Seo Ri (Shin Hye Sun) drinks alcohol for the first time with her colleagues, and she got drunk. Accidentally slept in Gong Woo Jin (Yang Se Jong)'s bed.
  • Kim Tae Rin (Wang Ji Won), the violinist meets Woo Seo Ri, and recognizes her.
  • Woo Seo Ri and her colleagues get to watch Kim Tae Rin's performance. Seo Ri watched the performance while crying as she gets reminded of the past.

1. [+709,-14]

You shouldn't have said those lines at the end... How am I supposed to wait 5 more days now...

2. [+348,-13]

I thought he was going to kiss her at the last scene...

3. [+340,-18]

You two are confirmed for the best couple award.

4. [+225,-5]

Even if I know that the story will be revealed later, I still want them to get lovey-dovey quickly... ã… ã…  How am I supposed to wait for the next week....

5. [+130,-2]

The ending is crazy... Really, why hasn't the next week come already. ㅜㅜ Today, the bed scene and the ending scene made my heart flutter.

6. [+89,-1]

Yang Se Jong cried so well, I almost wanted to cry with him.

7. [+56,-3]

The story is moving so slowly.. Who is the person with yellow shoes? And who was the one who paid for her hospital bills? Just who is Jennifer? When will they recognize each other?

When will the doctor get to meet her? And what's with Rim Kim and her? There's just so many things.

8. [+53,-0]

The window opened, wind came in and blew his things away, he smiled = His heart is opened, he doesn't dislike Seo Ri blowing onto his heart / Putting the plunger in his closet = He decided to close his heart without opening it. / After Seo Ri left, the sun shines behind Woo Jin brightly from the window = Even if his heart is closed, Seo Ri kept forcing herself in!!! The window is Woo Jin's door to his heart.

[t/n: Not sure if I'm 100% accurate on this one x) ]

9. [+51,-1]

It's a fact that the story is slow. But very fun to watch.

10. [+43,-1]

If I'm Seo Ri, I'd like Yoo Chan.. She is in her 30s, but she's 17 mentally, he's a friend who's always bright and caring. He seems more attractive...

Thirty But Seventeen: Episodes 9-10

Still17E09-00698-copy.jpg

As much as he tries, Woo-jin can’t ignore Seo-ri because there’s something about her that brings out his protective side, and his increased worries coincide with Seo-ri’s deepening interest in Mr. Gong. Chan officially makes it a triangle, though the poor boy doesn’t quite realize that he’s suffering from the first pangs of love. As if matters aren’t complicated enough, Woo-jin is forced to confront his greatest fear.

EPISODE 9: “Moonlightâ€

Still17E09-00040-copy.jpg Still17E09-00035-copy.jpg

Woo-jin is at work in his bedroom when a leaf flutters down from the open skylight. He sees the moon overhead and twirls the leaf with a smile, until he hears someone wailing.

Woo-jin and Chan run to Seo-ri’s room but before they can investigate, Jennifer appears out of nowhere and calmly guesses, “I think it’s coming from the room under the stairs.†Something rolls out of the room just as Seo-ri stumbles out and cries, “My eyes!†She feels her way around while a panicked Chan blurts out, “Are you blind?â€

Still17E09-00060-copy.jpg

Seo-ri tells him that her eyes burn and fumbles her way to the kitchen. Woo-jin holds up an onion and when the men peek inside her room, they’re taken aback by the bags of onions from a Chinese restaurant.

Seo-ri sits with an ice bag on her eyes while Woo-jin summarizes — she has a part-time job peeling onions for a restaurant, one of the few jobs that doesn’t require experience. Seo-ri explains that she must repair her violin and hints that she’ll have more expenses if she doesn’t find her uncle.

COMMENTS

I spoke too soon because this hour introduced the romantic triangle between Seo-ri and her two roommates — the bubbly Chan and his subdued uncle. This has to be one of the most unusual triangles ever with one teenager, a thirty-year old woman who feels like a teenager and an emotionally delayed thirty-year old man. Without a doubt, Chan is the most emotionally mature of the three but he’s never been in love before so there’s no telling how his feelings for Seo-ri will impact him. What really twists the dynamics is the return of Woo-jin’s nightmarish memories of the bus accident and the fact that Seo-ri is the trigger.

Up until this point, I’ve appreciated Yang Se-jong in this drama solely for his scenes with Ahn Hyo-seop because they have such good comedic chemistry, but this hour changed all of that. I know that Yang Se-jong is capable of so much more but he’s had to deliver a subdued performance to convince us of Woo-jin’s repression, an after effect of the accident. His emotional distance disappeared when he sought out his former doctor for help and confessed his deepest fear. Woo-jin was enveloped by his anguish and Yang Se-jong brought such depth to his character’s suffering and terror that it brought tears to my eyes. It was tragic to think that Woo-jin has been bottling up that fear for so many years and I can understand why he doesn’t want to experience those memories — he’s raw with unresolved guilt and grief. What a powerful scene. But Woo-jin isn’t seventeen anymore, plus the girl that he thinks died lives in the room under his stairs. It’s such a shame that he’s suffered unimaginably over a loss that never was.

Seo-ri’s budding feelings for Woo-jin caught me by surprise because I didn’t expect them so soon. But that’s ridiculous because inside, she’s a seventeen-year-old girl. I’m more comfortable with Seo-ri’s feelings for what amounts to an older man than I am with Chan’s feelings for a girl who’s the same age as his uncle. There are layers of complications that make this romantic triangle feel downright weird at times. I’m going to trust that the writer will manage to smooth everything out so that the relationships make sense by the time we get to the end. One thing I don’t want is to see Chan end up with the stalker/potential-girlfriend, Ri-an. She’s just not worthy of the sweet Chan-chan.

As Thirty But Seventeen prepares to deal with Woo-jin’s deep emotional trauma along with romantic angst, the sweet and funny character interactions are an even more welcomed respite. The writer has done an excellent job of giving the side characters screen time to develop the secondary relationships and I hope that continues. The clues continue to pile up as well and the questions that they raise heightens interest. Jennifer’s role in the lives of Woo-jin and Seo-ri grows with each episode and I can’t imagine how she figures into their pasts. That music box must be from Germany, so does she know Woo-jin, who grew up there? But then why does she know so much about Seo-ri’s violin? And of course we have the mysterious woman in yellow, who has yet to show her face. But my most burning question has to do with Hyung-tae. Why is he so haunted by Seo-ri and what was he running from the night of the accident? There’s obviously so much more to the man whose boyish heart belonged to the young Seo-ri.

Scriptwriter, it's really fun to watch, but the development is too slow.... At this rate, are they going to solve everything in the final week...

2. [+152,-1]

The PD seemed confident while editing, he knows why he's doing this. The people in this drama are so lovely. Yang Se Jong's voice is good.

The title of this episode is "Yang Se Jong is cute"

7. [+37,-6]
The development is slow, so it's getting boring. Please reveal it quickly.

4. [+30,-4]
The person who paid for her hospital bills, was it the mystery woman.... or was it that Yang Se Jong paid for it thinking it's Seo Ri's friend? That's not right....

5. [+12,-2]
No but Yang Se Jong is really cute. ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹  Mini umbrella. ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹  Cart. ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

It's slow, too slow.. At first it's fun.. the scenes today seems unnecessary.. The scene where Kwon Hyuk Soo appeared is unnecessary too.

[Thirty but Seventeen] Eps 15 & 16 Shin Hye Sun fails to move out, Yang Se Jong asks her to stay

17.png

Article: Naver 'Thirty but Seventeen' Shin Hye Sun fails to move out.. Lee Ah Hyun & Lee Young Eun appears

  • Woo Seo Ri (Shin Hye Sun) finds an apartment to stay in with the help of her colleagues.
  • Gong Woo Jin finally hears from Seo Ri that she was in a coma for years.
  • Seo Ri didn't get to move out, Woo Jin tells her to continue to stay in his house.
  • The lady in yellow shoes went to look for Jennifer.

1. [+1475,-13]
No, but how can Toreta [t/n: The mineral water everyone drinks in every drama] have more screen time than the doctor.

2. [+1279,-26]
I know the reason why Yang Se Jong could rise up to take on male lead roles so quickly... His acting is so detailed and really good...

3. [+425,-7]
Someone please increase the doctor's screen time. Isn't it bad that the doctor don't even have 1 minute of screen time? He has the same lines and same expressions all the time. Even Yoo Chan's friends appear more than him.

4. [+334,-6]
This drama is simplistic and puts me in a good mood!!!

5. [+181,-3]
There's something weird about this drama... It seems different from the standard dramas, but I'm not sure what's different... It's not exciting to watch, neither does it make me really focused on watching it, but strangely, I just keep following this drama... Should I say that I like that it strange and calming....

6. [+126,-5]
I hate Toreta~~ Please show more of the other character's stories!!

7. [+120,-1]
The PPL is a bit too much today. They usually do it naturally but today, the products get a special shot on their own. The hair dryer, Yang Se Jong's backpack, Toreta, Bungeo Samanco [t/n: carp bread aka taiyaki], etc.

8. [+108,-3]
Damn! When the Olympics end, there's Asian Games, and after that, there's World Cup!!
Why are they having a match every day!!! Broadcast the sports matches on a sports channel!!! The US and Europe all do that. Why broadcast it on a public tv channel????

9. [+104,-3]
Yang Se Jong's eyes are so charming... we could see that they are both in love with each other but when will they start dating? I'm sad that broadcast is cancelled next week.. Can 2 episodes be broadcasted on Tuesday together? I thought 2 episodes per week is too little, but one..

Team Dramabeans: What we’re watching???

So, what are we all watching this week?

What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

  • Thirty But Seventeen: I’m enjoying this show a lot, although it’s not quite at the level I had expected from the writer of High School King of Savvy. I’m starting to get annoyed with how almost every time a character is about to find out an important piece of information, it turns out to be a fake-out. It’s frustrating because with a premise and characters like this, there’s no need to stall plot development like this; there’s so much to explore! I’m here for the adorably developing feelings between our leads, and I’m in paroxysms of joy and sadness over everything that Chan does but I want to know what the deal is with the uncle already. And what about Jennifer’s past? (It’s lovely how Jennifer and Seo-ri have taken to each other.) I’m sad the ex-rival is still jealous of Seo-ri even though she lost everything—I so wanted them to be friends. At least reunite Seo-ri with the puppy who wanted to follow her to Berlin, and has been faithfully visiting her in the hospital for thirteen years! She needs an old friend by her side.

[Thirty but Seventeen] Eps 17 & 18 Yang Se Jong decides to not sell the house for Shin Hye Sun's sake

Posted on Tuesday, August 21, 2018

Article: Naver 'Thirty but Seventeen' Yang Se Jong realizes his â™¥  for Shin Hye Sun, "I won't disappear"

  • Gong Woo Jin (Yang Se Jong) went to Jejudo to ask his father not to sell the house. He didn't tell anyone and left everyone worried for his disappearance.
  • Woo Seo Ri (Shin Hye Sun) meets her music teacher who had taught her when she was young.

1. [+634,-9]
The best! The best! It's so fun to watch.

2. [+499,-0]
I think the kiss scene will be made pure and innocent too. This is like a fairytale drama made for adults. Healing.

3. [+390,-5]
There are no overly dramatic scenes, and no villain roles in it. But it's not boring at all. There's no kissing scene, but my heart fluttered so much. What's with this drama?

4. [+164,-0]
Ah, there's no episode next Monday. How am I supposed to wait till Tuesday..

5. [+160,-2]
You two are the real deal for best couple award.

6. [+92,-0]
Yoo Chan's mother was truly thankful to see her brother, Woo Jin change because of Seo Ri. She was so cool, and is a good person.. This drama feels so warm and innocent. I like it.

7. [+39,-0]
This drama seems to be showing that good people can meet good people. Seo Ri is a good person, so she gets to meet Woo Jin, Yoo Chan, Jennifer, and Kang Hee Soo (She knew that Seo Ri doesn't have a bag, so she got her one without making Seo Ri feel burdened. I really like that scene.) and even the people she gets to work together with... They are all just good people... Be a good person, I get reminded of that and feel relaxed every time I watch it.

8. [+35,-1]
GongSeo couple match well. My heart fluttered for them. How beautiful.

9. [+33,-1]
Please make dramas like this. No villain, no schemes, that kind.

10. [+30,-0]
That last scene was really unforgettable. Their gazes were daebak.

1. [+572,-3]
Is it true that they will be airing the next episode on Tuesday? ã… ã…

2. [+285,-2]
Yesterday, they said the show will begin at 10.30pm, so I turned on the tv at that timing. But they started at 10pm.

3. [+137,-2]
I thought they will begin at 10.30pm so I turned on the tv late. I've lost 30mins of the show, moreover, the next episode is airing next Tuesday. This is too much. ã… ã…

4. [+98,-1]
Yang Se Jong~~♡♡♡♡♡

5. [+75,-2]
How am I supposed to wait till Tuesday? ㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅠㅜㅜ

6. [+38,-0]
Is Yang Se Jong's gaze reality?

7. [+32,-0]
Today was interesting. ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ Really, there are no villain, it's a cute drama. Yoo Chan's mother is cool too!!
