is there a common/popular quote that you find stupid?

love

Recommended Posts

for me it’s “love means never having to say you’re sorryâ€

i know it’s from a movie and maybe there’s ~context~ but it’s pretty awful relationship advice and people spout it off like it’s poetry

what about you guys?

'money can't buy happiness' rolleyes.gif

um no bish that quote only applies to like 1% of the population who already has too much for their own good; the majority rest of us needs money to survive before we can even think about happiness rolleyes.gif

"x group stays unbothered"

first of all i hate the word unbothered

second, none of these idols are unbothered by what others think of them. from what i've seen they're very f*cking bothered lol literally every moment of the day they are BOTHERED. any negative comment they see - hello, bothered

so not only is it annoying, its a boldfaced lie. unbothered is a state no idol will ever attain in life

"Don't burn bridges"

it just feels so fake to me to maintain a toxic relationship/connection with someone i know isn't going to help me in the future

"I hope the bridges you burn lights your way"

I like this version better

lmao at the "love means never having to say you're sorry." it sounds poetic but its ?? lit stupid. love means having to actually say you're sorry bcos relationships should be built upon acknowledging when you're wrong and apologizing for it.

The one i hate the most is "no one will love you if you don't love yourself" like okay you have a point there (the importance of self love and shit) but what the hell? loving yourself is hard. when someone is already suffering enough with their lack of love for themselves, don't go around telling them that they don't deserve other's love bcos of it.

"Don't burn bridges"

it just feels so fake to me to maintain a toxic relationship/connection with someone i know isn't going to help me in the future

well its not really about maintaining a toxic relationship/connection

its about the fact that the world is so small and so are communities and industries that you might be in or work in. if you piss off a person they wont forget and the time may come in the very near or even distant future when that person is the very person you need. but what happens if you burned that bridge?

so its not saying "be fake," its saying if you have an issue with a person resolve it properly and respectfully. always leave things on a positive note and leave the door open whenever you can because then when the time comes that you need that person they'll help you

sometimes what you need from a person is just for them to not talk bad about you and not ruin what you're doing that's going well

everybody knows everybody. you cant be sure who knows who and what bad impression a person you pissed off might give about you to someone you do actually like. i've had things ruined for me in the past by people who held grudges against me. and not because of what i did, usually they did something crazy and i called them on it and we stopped speaking. but they tell a very different story - one where i'm a bitch and a crazy monster. and they will tell that story to anyone who will listen. unfortunately most people will listen to their friends and they will believe them

that's what happens when you burn bridges. bad situations carry on and they dont ever end, because the person who's mad at you wont let them

ever since i stopped burning bridges  life has gotten a lot easier. but i am still paying for bridges i burned a few years ago and in some cases i will always have to pay

Wow this thread made me realize how much I agree with most quotes or sayings-. However, there's one thing that keeps bugging me, people keep saying they can a self-esteem boost by ''improving'' their physical appearance (ps, makeup, treatments, and so on). Now, I'm not against any of that but people should really stop thinking it's gonna solve their lack of self love or self acceptance. In my opinion learning to be satisfied with yourself is a long journey, it requires maturity, help and a lot of reflection
