f(x)'s Japan debut makes me want to roll my eyes. Until 2016, each Japan release was just a single Japanese version of their song like Pinocchio and Hot Summer with a whack packaging restyling.

Then when they release an actual Japanese single, they don't get an mv rolleyes.gif

2017
Twice

The name that describes the resurgence of K-Pop in Japan: TWICE, paving the way for the new other girl groups.

That is why in 2018 7 groups will debut trying to do what they did.

TWICE did that in 2 years.

Both Korea and Japan have a perfect taste with them, helping both cultures to join together again.

LEGENDS.

I honestly thought 2011 had the most because of all the talk (and controversy) around it. Then again up until this year it did.

It would be interesting to see a list like this for boy groups since I bet it would be much larger.

because this list leave out all the boygroup. like you said it would be interesting to have a list with both gender a lot debuted in japan during the hallyu wave

Boy groups are less sustainable in the Korean market if they don't hit a chord with the public/don't have a large fandom, so most go to the Japanese market. Girl group agencies tend to give up on them if they flop... eh

gfriend supposed to debut in 2016 after navillera era, but too much happened to their health issue. that's why the hiatus is so long before fingertip comeback. this comeback is the longest hiatus, but that's because they had concert.

so yeah... gfriend is not affected by any group that "revived japanese market".... everybody said their songs sounds like anime opening, that's why they're confident to debut at first....
