For all of you complaining about the removal of the Bashing Thread

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure it stemmed from Jonghyun's suicide at the end of last year -> mental health -> stop bullying/spreading hate in general.

I believe things were things posted about his suicide in the thread as well and that was the final straw.

the spreading of misinformation was kinda fucked up but most of the bashes were too ridiculous to take seriously to begin with

that whole thread was a joke, deleting it was unnecessary tbh

people are using the unpopular opinion thread as substitute anyway lol

Yeah imo.

Also about Jonghyun: The users who did it should have been reprimanded but imo removing the bash thread during that time was like...ppl were saying that Jonghyun killed himself bc of hate comments and removing the bashing thread was a way to place blame on smth for a situation that was out of our countrol.

I’m not making sense but like I was there I remember lol.

For the people who fished for upvotes I can understand, but I thought people would be thrilled to bash to their hearts content without fear of getting negged :derp:

I think some people get vindication out of downvotes as well, like they love to trigger people or they think the downvotes are a testament of them speaking the “truth†and that the fans are just salty or butthurt.

Side-eying the fuck out of anyone who says they miss it given the horrid shit that used to fly in there. Says a lot about them as well.

The Bashing Thread regulars need to give it time, frankly.

I had an old account and used to regularly visit and post on the Bashing Thread. One day, I decided that the negativity wasn't good for me and I decided to stop going there. Doing that has allowed me to stop being a judgmental little shit when it comes to Kpop. Like for example, the fact that Park Bom "couldn't sing" and was "addicted to plastic surgery" was a huge fucking deal to me because in the Bashing Thread every flaw (and by flaw... so many things can be a flaw on there) is a big deal.

Now... I just don't care. Do I still agree that she's not a good singer? Yes, her technique is flawed. However, I'm not obsessing over it like I used to. I can respect someone who likes Bom as a singer/idol and when it comes to Kpop I now mind my own business.

If you're looking for perfection to "stan"... just don't. Fandoms can be shitty, idols can be problematic. You have every right to put a limit on what you're willing to tolerate from an idol, but don't expect people to be angels. Entertainment industries and products of consumerism (makeup, food, etc.) are all to some extent problematic. The question you should ask yourself is what are you willing to accept and what are you not willing to accept? That's a decision the individual should make, and you shouldn't guilt someone for not following your standards like many Bashing Thread regulars seem to in a way do.

Now of course, I'm talking more about people with more "solid" claims in the bashing thread ("WJSN is racist!""TWICE can't sing!"). If you're one of those people who use the Bashing Thread to complain about something silly like an idol's looks or an idol's weight... grow up.

The biggest problem with the bashing thread was that it allowed unchecked negativity while protecting people from being called out or having to engage with anyone who disagreed with it. Allowing negativity is not inherently bad, I think, but if you're gonna talk shit you can't expect people to not engage with you about those negative opinions
