“Avengers: Infinity War†is set to overtake $1 billion worldwide this weekend, setting the record for the fastest film to reach that milestone.

The Disney-Marvel film will take in around $122 million this weekend from 4,474 North American locations, which, combined with its international total, will push it past the $1 billion mark. “Infinity War†is Marvel’s sixth film to reach that number, including the second most recent installment in the MCU, “Black Panther.â€

“Avengers: Infinity War’s†second weekend is coming in somewhat above earlier tracking forecasts, which had pegged it in the $115-million range. The superhero tentpole opened to $257.6 million last weekend, attaining the highest-grossing opening weekend of all time. “Star Wars: The Force Awakens†had previously held the all-time domestic opening weekend with $247.9 million.

Will be interesting to see how high it can go with China lining up to have a 200M+ opening for 350-500M total. I'm gonna go with 2.05B.

Japan too. The additional sales will probably reach 3B by summer

Superhero movies aren't popular in Japan though? Infinity War is probably gonna finish there with around 40M.

Also 3B is a pipe dream lol. In the absolute best case scenario 2.3B or so is the ceiling but the overseas drops aren't supporting that. I think 2B is more realistic unless China goes absolutely crazy for it and does 600M+

It does really well. Thor and Wonder Woman sweeped the cinema rankings for 5 months. I'm not sure of the total money generated though

Not sure where you heard this but that's not true. Check: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=intl&id=wonderwoman.htm & http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=intl&id=marvel2017.htm

They made 10M & 12M in Japan in total respectively which is very little for a market the size of Japan's. It's a local market that largely ignores Western films blockbusters.

Dude 3B? The highest grossing film of all time, 'Avatar', has 2.8B and that's with inflation. Infinity War needs insane multipliers and legs to even get there.

I think when all is said and done, we're looking at 1.8B-2.1B. I don't know about it crossing Titanic but I think it will to pass TFA.
