YG Entertainment apologizes for 'MIXNINE' debut cancellation in official statement

ok so he just goes we are so sorry and have no excuse, we messed up but here is a whole essay with excuses to why it didnt happen with others words, its not really our fault!!!!!. 15 songs?! really? when why is your own group that debuted TWO YEARS ago have like 5 songs and no album????. Like how shameless can he be, thats just a slap in the face. Im kinda happy that the show wasn't so popular, so that man can finally stop with his survival shows and focus on his already debuted groups and solos that only comes back every blue moon!!!!!

Netizens angry at YG Entertainment for their treatment of 'MIXNINE' contestants

https://www.allkpop.com/article/2018/05/netizens-angry-at-yg-entertainment-for-their-treatment-of-mixnine-contestants

I dont blame them really, now I doubt that blackpink will comeback as he promised.....

Comments of anger stated, "This is nonsense. Is this some sort of prank show on the entire nation? Pay me back for my text votes and apologize for deceiving us", "Seriously, this is crazy", "This is too much. How could you crush the dreams of those kids? They must've been so desperate... They must be so upset and angry. They (YG) are so irresponsible", "They played with the dreams of more than 400 trainees, deceived the viewers, and all these reports are coming out but they are hiding, not providing any official statement. They are so cowardly. I thought they would at least get a chance to promote (even though the viewer ratings were low) since the show was on YG's name and I made votes with that hope in mind."

PS, sorry if it already been posted

The official statement YG released in regards of Mixnine

“Hello, this is YG Entertainment, the producing company of ‘MIXNINE.’

“First of all, we’re sincerely grateful for the many fans who have supported ‘MIXNINE’ so far.

“Articles about the canceled debut of the top nine contestants on ‘MIXNINE’ were released before YG Entertainment’s official statement. We are endlessly sorry and feel great responsibility for all those disappointed in the turn of events.

“The original aim of the show ‘MIXNINE’ was to unearth those desperate to achieve their dreams of being a singer despite the harsh environment and to increase awareness through good opportunities of those in other agencies who have already debuted but haven’t succeeded yet.

“In addition, the ultimate goal was to encourage the development of a star group whose name would be known not only in Korea but also in Asia, and even all around the world. This would be achieved through YG Entertainment, which has 21 years of experience in music production, meeting trainees in other agencies for the first time and making use of all their music production system, strategies they developed in time, and global infrastructure.

“Unfortunately, however, the program did not receive the amount of attention that was expected.

“Regardless of the program’s popularity, YG Entertainment’s producer Yang Hyun Suk seriously thought about it and planned strategies for how to make the group consisting of top nine contestants successful. He then met with representatives of six entertainment agencies (including YG Entertainment) in person.

“The contract period of ‘MIXNINE’ was ‘four months + overseas performance’ as known.

“No matter how great the group is, the reality of the music industry these days is that it’s very difficult to get attention immediately after debuting. Because the producers were the ones who understood this better than anyone else, they decided to meet in person to explain the new plans and exchange their opinions.

“What is the new plan of Yang Hyun Suk?

“It was a suggestion that the members each promote in their respective agencies for half a year and for the remaining half, the nine members of ‘MIXNINE’ get together to promote as a team. This would continue over the span of three years.

“Why did Yang Hyun Suk make this new suggestion?

“He believed that the promised four months were not enough even to prepare their new song, film the music video, and practice choreography. In addition, at least 15 songs were required to hold a solo concert and it was impossible to achieve all this in the promised four months.

“After making the first proposal and gathering each agency’s opinions, the majority of the agencies felt that six months was burdensome.

“Yang Hyun Suk also fully understood and accepted that opinion and in the second proposal, he suggested three months in a year with a month of preparation and two months of promotion. Unfortunately, he failed to get the consent of all representatives in the final group meeting held last week.

“The meetings that took place seven times were held in a very comfortable and calm mood and were carried out in an atmosphere of mutual consideration rather than argument. We would like to make it clear that there was not a single moment of discomfort.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the representatives who have dedicated their time for ‘MIXNINE’ in the midst of their busy schedule even though we could not come to an agreement.

“In conclusion, YG Entertainment has no excuses. We thought the least we could do was to let you know what happened, albeit in a summary.

“We are deeply grateful for fans who have supported ‘MIXNINE’ so far. YG Entertainment will sincerely support the future and prosperity of not only the top nine members of ‘MIXNINE’ but also all contestants who participated in ‘MIXNINE.’

“Again, we sincerely thank all of you and deeply apologize for failing to keep our promise.â€

I feel bad for the boys, they did their best for nothing

This show was a scam

The promises made were all empty, no contracts in any moment, YGE did not plan neither execute well, they boy's agencies went along with YGE's game, They fell into into a scammer's scheme of YGE and their own agencies

befoire i see here people talking about YGE doing better for the girls along with their agencies like i've seein other threads, do not hold hopes up, reality does not look good at all. YGE messed up badly for the boys which YGE's haters always claim boys are always preferred and loved above girls.

NO ONE WANTS YOUR APOLOGIES, YG.

YOU deceived the viewers, and the contestants.

YOU promised the winning team of having

not only the advantages of having a Big3 platform, but also a world tour.

YOU went back on the original seven-month promotions deal by cutting it to just four months, then trying to "make up for it" by offering them a THREE-YEAR contract that benefited you.

And worst of all, YOU never cared about crushing the hopes & dreams of the winning boys, a team of which included two of your own trainees. Why even push for them to be your own representatives in the final group, if you didn't want the team to debut to begin with?

What you & your emotions-toying, bait-and-switch antics did were not only a low blow to these boys, their companies & the viewers, but indeed all the more reason to lower any ounce of respect people have in you. Shame on you.

You can't simultaneously be glad the show failed and upset that the trainees hard work was wasted... they aren't debuting BECAUSE the show failed.

I get that they actually have fans who voted and waited for them, but are we really gonna sit here and pretend like loads of people weren't sitting around hoping they would fail from the very beginning, solely because it's YG?? The unit didn't have near the same stigma...

I wont even read that trash article and stupid justification. FUCK that. This was a show no one asked for yet YG still decided to to go forward with and promise the hopefulls a debut. What a crock of shit going back on his word like that the winners of the show dont deserve this at all.

Ok but this is not how it works. It's still YG's responsibility to debut the group, whether the show flopped or not.

I also blame the contestants' agencies, they were dumb to participate in the show without signing any contract in advance. YG basically played them all.

Of cause hoped that the show was a successful one, but it did not yet you cant come out of it now that you have a group that you promised them to debut.....  And I believe the other agencies said that YG's contract was only to his benefit and thats why they couldnt agree after so long, cant remember the article.

YG was a legit evil genius on this. I'm gonna guess he smooth talked these companies for them not to sign anything beforehand and YG played it by ear to see if he really wanted to invest or not. TBH the show should have been canceled when the views hit the floor because if no ones watching who's gonna be listening?

Sucks a shit ton for these trainees

he cancelled the show because it receives low ratings?

wow this guy is so greedy and have no responsibility

Not the show but the debut of the winning group.

I saw a few users, in the main YG thread, discuss that whenever something fails to reach its goal, YG pulls back instead of pushing forward. When Winner's Exit E album was released, it apparaently didnt do well enough, so instead of pushing through and release Exit X album, YG scrapped the whole EXIT project.

This is not me claiming this, Im just re-telling what Ive read in the YG thread. They also had other examples of this.

ahh i see, thanks for explaining, I didn't follow the show to know enough.

but I still think it's just so mean to cancel the group's debut because the show received low ratings.

I think that winner case is similar with red velvet's ballad tittle track for velvet album, the agency won't pushed it anymore if it doesn't sell good. but they are still an active debuted group, they can try other ways if the previous song was failed.

this mixnine group can't even have their debut, wow. I feel sorry for them.

Oh, so that's why YG could change terms abruptly. I was wondering why they wouldn't take it to court.
