Today, Johnny & Associates group TOKIO held a press conference regarding the future of the group, and bass player Tatsuya Yamaguchi.

This is all in response to his “forced indecency†with a 16-year-old girl.

TOKIO’s leader Shigeru Joshima was the first to speak at the conference.

As expected, he repeatedly apologized to the victims family and the public for all the commotion this scandal has caused. Joshima then went into the talks the members had of what they should do regarding Yamaguchi.

He quickly revealed what many were expecting, Yamaguchi officially handed in his resignation and will no longer be a member of the group. During the meeting with the other members he said

“I will quit TOKIO. I’m responsible for hurting TOKIOâ€

Yamaguchi stated that he would leave the group shortly after he held his own press conference. This meeting between all the members took place on April 30th.

Before having this meeting, the remaining 4 TOKIO members spoke to the victim and her family, personally apologizing to them. Joshima then had a meeting with Johnny Kitagawa, and it was decided that the 4 members would have their own press conference.

Each of the members had a chance to speak, and vocalist Tomoya Nagase had some sound advice for critics of the victim. After giving his own set of apologies, he pleaded with the public to not BLAME or try and identify the victim.

Drummer Masahiro Matsuoka was instantly in tears during his portion of the press conference, stating that he really does not want TOKIO to end.

When a member of the press insinuated that perhaps alcohol is the one that should take most of the blame in this situation, Matsuoka snapped back saying it’s not the alcohol’s fault. Calling Yamaguchi’s actions “sickâ€.

While the press conference was taking place, Johnny & Associates updated their webpage for TOKIO removing every single trace of Yamaguchi.

Thank you.

THANK YOU.

I'm a super casual fan but I'm impressed by how they've handled this. I hope the four of them are able to move on from this.

i expected this since even Johnny himself crawled out of his hole to comment on this. Hopefully Tokio can continue as 4 members and this won't affect the rest of the members careers.

The way Joshima and Matsuoka reacted towards his "problem" is telling that he may actually be a pedophile and this is probably not the first instance that he's done this. I wish the remaining four members all the best in continuing on.

for all we know he might have been but if he was the members didn't know. But the members did know he was an alcoholic and they had told him repeatedly to get treatment and apparently he had gone to the hospital multiple times and each time the hospital told him he was fine and he believed that. Arama didn't translate everything some stuff are missing  .

Edit. This reminds me does anyone remember when his ex wife said that he cheated on her on their wedding night ?

The Me Too movement is still very fresh and if the other victims do decide to come forth it's going to be even worse for the group if they didn't make him leave

I'm glad the members didn't hold back in their critique of Yamaguchi and his actions and the public for victim shaming the girl. I can't imagine how painful this must be for the remaining members and the victim and her family.

I'm glad he's no longer a part of the group and to think he had the audacity to want to remain as part of TOKIO during his press conference is disgusting.
