SBS's 'One Night of TV Entertainment' covered stars and their money this week under a corner labeled, 'Money moves when stars move.'

One celebrity brought up in this section was none other than Kim Soo Hyun, who created a syndrome throughout all of Asia after his performance in hit drama 'You Who Came From The Stars.'  The expert on the show stated, "Even the representatives really didn't know that this would be such a huge hit.  As 'You Who Came From The Stars' gained popularity in China, the stock price [for Kim Soo Hyun's agency Key East Entertainment] went up."

This specialist continued, "Early this year in January, Key East's share price was 1,225 won ($1.19 USD), but it was raised to 3,425 won ($3.32 USD) by May."  It appears that thanks to Kim Soo Hyun, the total market capitalization of Key East Entertainment increased by approximately 155 billion won (~ $150 million USD)!

Another specialist revealed that for both March and April, Kim Soo Hyun raked in 18 billion won (~ $18 million USD) from Chinese CFs alone!

18M US dollar is kinda impossible for one chinese cf, much bigger than moto gp and f1 stars, i dont believe this.

I don't think he earned them all in one take, he probably get the amount distributed throughout the lenght of the contracts. Anyways, I'm not suprised at all. There's a lot of money in China if you're famous. Let's not forget the time where he earned 500k for a variety show + they even offered him a private jet fly to get there

Lol no he took several chinese CF and a lot of them offered millions for him to advertise their product. I guess "YWCFTS" was very successful

His samsonite ads are huge (the amount and sizes) in Hong Kong. The radio keeps playing the OST of YWCFTS and my friends started wearing bright lipstick due to show. Yup 18 million US$ is just a part of the effect.

I am 100% sure he made a lot of money after the drama but making 18 millions USD in 2 months just from Chinese CFs.

To me that seems to be again one of these typical exaggerations of Korean media.

This is just further proof that if you can even make a little headway into the Chinese market - it will be extremely profitable. Expect and influx of actors / idols into China in a similar way to what we saw after Hallyu exploded in Japan

Obviously, there are certain people who are ahead of the curve :stud:

chinese cf's pay a lot more money than japanese cf's. that's how c-pop artists make most of their money.

Unlike idols, actors get most of profits

Anyways he is everywhere in Korea, too

That's true, but entertainment/talent agencies can be just as shady as idol companies lol

I hope he invests in property since that's where the money is in SK.

I think his company Keyeast is good, bc some companies wanted to sign w/ him after YWCFTS ended, but he decided to renew the contract w/ Keyeast
