The trans of the speech:

[TRANS] 140508 Summary of speeches at Baidu-SM Strategic Cooperation Conference.

Baidu vice pres:
Together with Baidu's online influence and the high quality work SM produces, we hope to present more professional work to our audience. Through various platforms such as Baidu Music, Baidu Tieba, and iqiyi, we are in charge of official SM music and video release (in China), artistes-fans interactions and other schedules.

With 26 being the average age of our Baidu workers, we pride ourselves for being able to understand teens, and their taste in fashion and trends.

Through today's partnership, Baidu will acquire the rights to publish SM's work, including official performance videos, MVs, and also, we will tailor-make shows for SM's artistes.

We will also ensure minimized distance between the artistes and fans, and help increase SM's reach. Ultimately, this can benefit the fans as well. At the recent music award show, we have witnessed Super Junior and EXO's popularity in China. We hope to further enhance an essential part of an artiste's career- viewership and search hits. We will also be aiding the Korean counterparts in terms of sharing our knowledge base of the Chinese audience's likes and dislikes and, increase artiste-fan interactions.

===
Kim Youngmin:
Ever since 1997, we have initiated many promotions in China for our artistes including H.O.T, BoA, TVXQ, SUPER JUNIOR, GIRLS' GENERATION, SHINee, f(x), EXO, Zhang Liyin etc. We are thankful for the great response and love we have received for our artistes and we are happy to sign this contract with Baidu.

====
Founder of Baidu:
There are two main points to our partnership:
Official MVs will be released on our portals and we will do our best in copyrights protection.
We will co-produce a reality show for SM artistes.
Ten years ago, Korean TVs and channels have helped distribute Korean entertainment in China. Ten years later, Chinese media will help push the second Korean entertainment wave in China.
======
SM Culture & Contents rept:
We are in charge of producing professional contents such as musical, documentaries, dramas, variety shows, together with Korea’s best actors and MCs, through new media platforms.
We promise to deliver professional materials to the Chinese audience through this cooperation with Baidu, and come up with shows catered to suit the viewers’ taste.
===
Lee Sooman: We have moved on to an era whereby we can produce our culture content. EXO-M is an example of teamwork between China-Korea. We promise to shock you with our upcoming production. Fan involvement in EXO Tiebas has exceeded 100million, and I believe that if we were to combine all that of SM artistes, it will be a formidable force.
===
iqiyi rept:
On our site, we will have an area dedicated specifically for SM artistes, and we will focus on producing shows for SM artistes that are suitable for the Chinese market.

I will pray for the day where SM and someone (anyone, PLEASE!!!) will start distributing and selling EXO M and SUJU M albums in China. Let this be the next thing SM plans to do!

There isn't really a point. Chinese music market is dead and it's not like they have official sales charts to mediaplay about. Might as well keep their numbers high on Gaon

y'all can hate him all you want, but lawd LSM really did hit the jackpot when he decided on this whole EXO-M and EXO-K thing - I still remember the lecture he did at UCLA a couple of years back where he predicted this type of thing for his company, especially with regards to the Chinese market.

And although it won't be exactly similar (because Japan and China are so different just from an industry standpoint) but I can see EXO having the same kind of impact on China as DBSK did in Japan (basically being the first foreign idol boyband to really hit it big in another country). Especially if partnerships like this are just the beginning...
