Who's your favourite J-pop artist?

I still don't know a lot about J-pop because I've just started getting into it but I really like Ai Otsuka. Her discography is really diverse and it has it all - happy, crazy pop/rock songs, electro bops, sexy mid-tempos and beautiful ballads.

Who's your favourite J-pop artist? Please post your favourite songs as well, I'm really excited to listen to them! QRLGYBO.png

If talking about ults here, hands down VALSHE.

She's one of my favorite person on Earth. I was lucky enough to meet her before and fallen hard for her ever since

She writes her own songs sometimes also arranges them. She most do rock but she could also do slow ballads and pop dance songs

She sang one of the OP and ED theme song for Detective Conan

Butterfly Core

Kimi e no Uso

And her recent project, singing the theme song to PC game Majestic Majorical, Lapis Lazuli

And one of my ultimate favorite of hers! Myself

Of course I do listen to more artists but she is my number one :D

Fonogenico.

Yui.

Please give Fonogenico a listen.

omg I will!! thank you so much for recommendation!

Perfume and Momoiro Clover Z but I've listened to a lot of Yonezu Kenshi lately

oooh I listened to some of Perfume songs a few days ago. I want to discover their discography but I'm a little bit scared because their stuff seems really crazy to me haha, I really liked Tokyo Girl though.

And WOW that third song is a certified bop, I really loved it!!! I'll definitely check out Yonezu Kenshi's stuff!

Oh and if you wanna get more into JPop, definitely listen to Miliyah Kato!! Her discography is also diverse and her voice is really unique!

I have never heard of Valshe, thank you for recommendation!!! I really like "Myself"!

And I know Miliyah Kato, I listened to some of her albums! At first I didn't really like her stuff but now it really grew on me, her latest EP is AMAZING and I really like Loveland tbh.

KAT-TUN - my ultimate JPOP group

YUI - Her solo career is over, but she formed a band named flower flower which I'm not following at all.

Stereopony - The group has disbanded already, and they had good "rock" songs. I used to like Stereopony more than Scandal.

Scandal - Their discography is nice as well. Their indie up to 2013 songs are the best in my own opinion.

AKB48 - Their discography is diverse, and I don't mind listening to their songs.

I also used to love Exile, but around 2014 or so, I just lost interest in them and in their songs.

I was also a UVERworld fan, but now I'm just a casual listener. Their old songs are great!
