  5. 5. Should EXO fans be able to say they don't like Americanized Music.. since EXO music IS Americanized?

    • Yes, nothing wrong with being a hypocrite
    • Hell No, they obviously don't care that Exo's music is straight out of the American music market.

I find it IRONIC that people are quick to talk about the Americanization of K-pop but some of these same people are huge SM fans. SM USES AMERICAN PRODUCERS for almost 50% of their music.

Exo's nicest album sounds alarmingly similar to American pop and R&B music.. curious why that is? The whole album was produced by foreign producers.

Overdose was produced by:

The Underdogs - Harvey Mason Jr. and Damon Thomas

They also produced Moonlight

Thunder was produced by:

Will Simms

Run was produced by:

Jarred Rogers and Ana Diaz

and Natalia Hajjara

LOVE LOVE LOVE was also produced by American producers:

Jimmy Burney and Deez Daniel 'Obi' Klein

So every song on Exo's newest mini-album was produced by someone outside of Korea with the lyrics coming from either Kenzie or Jam Factory. In my opinion the lyrics only count for 40% of a songs overall appeal. The reason Exo's music is appealing is primarily because American producers make music that sounds attractive to people who like what's coming out of the USA music market. Of course EXO has to be able to sing the songs well and they do but let's face the facts, there isn't a producer in SM that could have come up with the type of R&B music EXO is releasing, so they got help from American producers. It's also the reason why EXO's music is more appealing to international fans than Super Junior's is.

I'd like to draw people's attention to how hypocritical certain fans are. EXO is the EPITOME of AMERICANIZED MUSIC but yet some Exo fans and SM stans have the gall to say that Americanized K-pop is a problem. It obviously makes Exo's music sound better than most of the music that comes out of SM. And SNSD within the past 3 years has also released albums with a lot of American Produced tracks.

I personally think Korean music sounds better when it has influences from outside of Korea. Exo's music is the only music from SM that I think sounds remotely good and it's most likely because it's produced by foreign producers. I think if your an EXO fan you shouldn't have a right to say K-pop music is overly Americanized. PERIOD! Or else you deserve to be labeled a hypocrite.

I'm just being honest. *Shrugs*  :stud:

Yeah and so is the other 99% of kpop.

EXO is not the epitome of Americanized music.

Please point out to me where every SM stan thinks that Americanized music is a problem.

I'm going to say Kpop is overly Americanized because IT IS overly Americanized.

i don't understand what is the point of this thread

exo's music is americanized... so?

So any EXO stan that says other artists music is too Americanized are total hypocrites. Having music that sounds like American R&B is obviously working for Exo so there is no excuse for certain people talking crap about other artists who are also influenced by American music.

Some exo fans have the nerve to say that YG are too Americanized when all Exo's producers are Americans, at least YG have their own producers.

Ikr. YG have their own producers yet they sound so 'Americanized'

EXACTLY!!! That's why I made this topic. I say the producer list for Exo's mini-album and nearly flipped my shit. People have the AUDACITY to say YG is more Americanized than SM. YG has mostly Korean producers. YES, they do have producers who lived in America for a while but at least 90% of their albums are from in-house producers. How can YG be called more Americanized when 99% of EXO's album was produced by producers who have popular music on the USA hot 100. Does that make any sense?!!

So Kenzie is suddenly American? You're really obsessed with EXO and their plastic surgeries tbh.

when did I mention their PS here? we are talking about their music..... if I ever mention that is when  some of their fans are saying or implying that snsd or any other female idol are plastic. I just don't like the hypocrisy.

And why it's a bad thing? It sounds like old school r&b or bubblegum pop and I take it over a bunch of terrible k-pop songs that sound like a mix of three completely different genres on the same song. Wolf gets such a bad rep and Growl/MiD/Overdose were so different from it for a reason.
