OFFICIAL SBS DRAMA DOCTOR STRANGER (닥터 이방인) THREAD

So I watched ep 2 and find it a bit far-fetched

Wow and I thought characters in some of those historical (hero) type dramas survived too many injuries. So let's see Jae Hee is in a prison camp for five years and tortured or malnourished to the point that both her kidneys fail. She gets a transplant and then is flown to Hungary where her heart is stopped and Hoon carries her around a hospital while running from North Korean agents. Starts her heart again and then they go on a motorcyle chase... She's somehow healthy enough to run for blocks and blocks while being chased on foot and then gets shot and falls off a bridge into the water.

The hell?

I'm also not sure why the evil Prime Minister guy wants Hoon to do his heart surgery. Surely there are great surgeons in South Korea who they have better records/information on compared to Hoon.

Okay, I don't get it. Hoon and Jae Hee are the real couple and Soohyun and Jae joon are couple, but Hoon and Soohyun have more interactions and their chemistry are so cute. Look like Hoon will fall for Soo Hyun. Hope to see Han Seung Hee's personality soon.

I'm getting Coffee House vibes from a "Who's really the female lead/main love interest?" thing.

I thought Jin Se Yeon was going to be it, but then given how much screen time she's had in the 'present day' storyline it seems like Kang Sora is actually the lead. Plus the female lead usually has multiple guys after her and that's the case with Soo Hyun and she's got the Father at the hospital who's an important character and the scheming older half-brother.

So it may be a case of Hoon and Jae Hee do end up as a couple, but Kang Sora is the female lead.

One thing that's bugging me while watching this. Does anyone else think that Soo Hyun's heels are too high for a doctor to be wearing? I mean seriously. I know Korean women love their heels, but we're talking about a doctor running around the halls of a hospital. Maybe the reason she wants to retire as a doctor and just be in the administration side is because her feet are killing her (usually it is the female characters on the business side/ownership side in a hospital drama who are wearing the larger heels)

Hands down this is one of the BEST Korean dramas I have ever seen. LJS is amazing in this. Like wow he is blowing me away with his emotions and incredible acting. Like everything is done right. I will honestly be shocked if this drama does not pick up some awards later down the line.

I'm sure it may win some (like Lee Jong Suk winning a male acting award), but You Who Came From The Stars is going to dominate at the 2014 SBS drama awards. There hasn't been any other weeknight drama yet on Mon/Tue or Wed/Thu that has come close to the ratings it got and nothing near the buzz/attention it generated.

Both Doctor Stranger(Mon/Tue) and You're Surrounded(Wed/Thu) are off to good starts ratings wise and may have a shot to get to the upper teens or approach 20%... but YWCFTS was at 20% for the third week.

I don't really get what the Prime Minister is planning with the help of North Korean spies. If it was the *PRESIDENT* who needed a heart surgery I'd totally understand the plan. They were going to go 'Hostages' style and have it where they wanted to kill the president while having heart surgery so then he could take over as President.

but it's not the President who needs heart surgery, it's HIM who needs heart surgery.

I don't want her to disappear, because I'm curious about her and her intentions

Maybe the PD just finds her hot and had her there for eye candy? LOL. What was up with the changing scene in the locker area? I thought it was actually going to serve a purpose and like show a scar from where she was shot or something, but all it did was show her undressing :D

I like Oh Soo Hyun with Hoon more than Jae Hee, but seems like 11/12 tried to hint at OSH and then suddenly pull it back. The only way I think they could end up together is if it was revealed Jae Hee was actually Hoon's "watcher" and assigned to him from when she was a kid. She's actually a legit NK soldier and her mission was to be his girlfriend and keep an eye on him.

Of course even if that was true she still tried to escape with him.

I think Jae Hee responsed to the criticism of "why didn't she do anything in the headlock?" question. It was because she WANTED to look like she was helpless to get Hoon to do what they wanted him to do. She easily could have gotten out of it as shown by taking down the NK agent when he had a gun on her.

Yea Episode 14 pretty much answers a lot of the questions and puzzlement with the plot on the show

Jae-Hae's past still isn't really resolved... but at least the whole Prime Minister plan finally makes sense. I know I'm not the only one who said it during the show that everything he was doing when it was his own surgery made no sense. Maybe if it was the PRESIDENT getting the surgery so he could kill him and take-over it would make sense.

Well now we find out that's actually what it was. All the stuff with him in meetings with other officials and 'pretending' to be sick was just to cover for the President who actually has the heart problem.

I don't think the hospital chairman would be very happy with this though. At the end of the day if the President goes into a hospital and dies in surgery pretty sure that's not very good PR lol.

The more annoying this is that the writer is leaning towards Jae-Hee/Hoon even though I like him better with Soo Hyun.

I was disappointed in the level of medical knowledge shown in this week's episodes. The reason why the one doctor's sister was so freaking out about having the surgery was because she would have to be on blood-thinners the rest of her life and that would make it extremely difficult to carry a fetus to term.

However. That's only if they gave her a metal heart valve. If they replaced her heart valve with a tissue it would only last at most maybe 10 years, but then she'd not need to take blood thinners and it would have no impact on her carrying a child to term.

I'm no doctor, but my Dad had to have a valve replaced earlier this year and those were his two options. Obviously he doesn't have to worry about giving birth, but because of blood thinners having a potential problem since he has had bleeding ulcers he went with the tissue option even though he may need it replaced in another 10 years at best.

The tissue option is recommended for women who are trying to give birth even though will either need to get it replaced later or then switch to a metal valve (once they've either had children or no longer are concerned with having another)

So no bodies found, but they believed both of them were dead? Really?

BTW, I think the President may have had the fastest recovery from serious heart surgery in the history of heart surgery. Then again they also said he was a week from dying and he was moving around fine and not collapsing and shit too.

This show never decided whether it was a spy-drama or a hospital-drama and ended up crapping on both sides.
