Hee-ho, welcome to the Official Megami Tensei thread.

Megami Tensei (Japanese女神転生?, "Rebirth of the Goddess"), commonly abbreviated as MegaTen (メガテン?), is a role-playing video game metaseries which was originally based on the novel series Digital Devil Story by Aya Nishitani (taking its name from the title of the first of those novels) and has gone to become one of the major franchises of the genre in its native country. The games are published by Atlus with the exception of the Famicom games, which were published by Namco.

Although most games in the series have independent stories, the Megami Tensei series has many common elements. Demons and mythology are prominent in each installment, usually giving players a chance to recruit demons into the battle party. Other common elements include certain game mechanics and plot themes. Most games in the series feature nonlinear gameplay offering freedom of choice between branching paths and multiple endings, a conversation system allowing players to engage enemies in conversation, the ability to use or capture monsters, and a moral alignment system.

The series has come a long way since the first game Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei back on the NES in 1987. With multiple entries and spin-offs, MegaTen shows no signs of stopping.

Now the question must be asked: Law, Neutral, or Chaos?

I almost finished Devil Survivior, IDK why but I keep putting the last boss off, it was actually a very fun game, but I don't think I'll play it again.

My first SMT game was Devil Summoner, and as a result, I have a soft spot in my heart for Ukobach.

Question for anyone who played Digital Devil Saga, does the game suffer from lag?

i didn't watch the video so i'm not sure if the person said/showed where it lags, but I didn't notice any lag when i played it. The battle system is also super fast for a turnbased system.

Guess it was just his computer then.

I just noticed in SMT4 that there's a lot of different drawing styles in the demons. Some look like Kazuma Kaneko's style but other look like someone else drew them. Hell, Yaso Magatsuhi is straight up 3D.

if anybody is curious. DDS is a pretty good game. The battle system is still "press turn" like all SMT games but it's super fast paced. Unlike the Persona games you don't get multiple personas to use. Instead there's a normal character progression like regular rpgs. There's a skill tree and skill slots that you assign before fights. There are limit slots so you need to balance out your skills within your party and make sure you got your elements covered. If you die you can switch your arrangement and try again so there's a small trial and error thing to it.

The story in DDS1 is really light though. It's more to set things up. It's actually only one part of the game and DDS2 is the sequel, more like the second half of the game. I haven't played DDS2 yet tho.
